How does it work?

Highest functional reliability is guaranteed by 12 springless locking pins,which are forced in specific positions and checked by two sidebars.An additional bottom bar checks the edge profiles of the key.

3KS keys are designed as reversible keys. A smooth insertion of the key into the cylinder is made possible thanks to the two rounded key tips. They also guarantee the best possible key copying protection.

The system has three different safeguards that protect against keys being copied or tampered with:

• Organisational protection
  Keys are only made for authorised individuals with the necessary proof of legitimacy (e.g. security card).
• Legal protection
  The commercial manufacturing of keys only takes place at EVVA and at EVVA-authorised manufacturers. Furthermore, EVVA protects against the unauthorised manufacturing of 3KS keys by means of patented features on the key.
• The best possible technical protection
  Keys have technical features that require specialised machines and expert specialist knowledge for their manufacture.

For the protection against key duplication,illegal copies (black keys) and key manipulation,the system has three different safeguardsat its disposal that always complementeach other in their effectiveness.

Organisational Key Protection

Keys are only manufactured for authorisedindividuals with the appropriate proof oflegitimacy (e.g. security card).

Legal Key Protection

The commercial manufacturing of keys takesplace exclusively at EVVA and at EVVA-authorisedspecialist manufacturers. Furthermore,EVVA protects against the unauthorisedmanu facturing of 3KS keys by means of patentedfeatures on the key. This enables EVVAto take legal steps against illegal commercialmanufacturing of a duplicate key.

Technical Key Protection

The keys possess technical features, which requirespecial machines and the highest specialistknowledge. The illegal manufacturing isonly possible with a great deal of investmentand is therefore not economically viable.

- Reversible key system: You can insert the key in both ways (like a car key).

- Modular system for flexible adaptation of cylinder lengths.This ability to modify cylinders on site saves both time and money.

- An incredibly high number of variations is possible. 30,000,000,000,000 (30 billion) different reversible keycombinations for use in master key systems due to three security levels: locking pins, key curves and sidebars.

- Each key is unique.

- Drilling and plug pulling protection are offered by the inclusion of hard metal pins in both, the body and the plug.

- Picking protection by a complicated technical system: 12 springless locking pins with18 control pins have to be brought into a certain position before the plug will turn.

- Protection against pulling and breaking off by locking pins, sidebars and a special cam.

- High wear resistance.

- Resistance against dust or ice due to special locking pins.

- Round cylinder version starting from 18 mm diameter, possible without varying restrictions.

Contrary to conventional locking systems,in the 3KS cylinder the movable locking elements- 6 per side - are raised above thekey’s curve milling and not pushed againsta spring force. By means of an authorisedkey, the locking elements release the lateralcontrol bar and enable the plug to be rotated.During the locking action, the 3KS key ischecked a total of 4 times- this is three timesmore than with conventional systems.

A multitude of different locking elements areavailable for each locking pin position. Thus,there are more than 300 billion mathematicalpossibilities for different keys. No two are alike!Locking elements are located on 12 positions- 6 per side - that engage with differentcontrol pins in the key curves and can therebybe checked by the key in a combinatorialway. The back of the key is additionallychecked by a springless locking bar.
