Templock can be used in a number of situations:

Multiuser accommodation: To provide security of access internally. To deter petty theft of personal items.
Securing valuables within a room during house party or other situations of temporary public access.
Rapidly providing security in a situation where the usual lock is broken, keys lost etc. Preventing access of children to a room which is temporarily dangerous e.g. rooms undergoing renovation or decoration.

The sharing of houses and flats is becoming increasingly common. Often individuals do not know each other well and personal security, especially of young females, can be an issue. Sharing situations often mean that each individual has a range of items stored in a bedroom which are attractive to petty thieves e.g. CD’s/DVD’s digital cameras, MP3 players etc. Nearly 12% of students living in shared accommodation are burgled every year. Frequently, internal doors in multi user accommodation are not provided with locks and the expense of fitting a new traditional lock is prohibitive. Templock provides an extra element of security in these situations. Access to the room from the exterior is controlled by the Templock user in their absence. Other devices (e.g. internal bolts) can only provide control when the occupier is present, within the room.

Templock is attached by a unique but simple method which is within the ability of any person who can operate a screwdriver. Once in place Templock is rigid and secure and yet it can be removed and attached to a different door in a matter of minutes - see instructions. Templock can be fixed to a wide range of internal doors but is particularly suited to levered handled doors with back plates (back plate maximum size 220mm x 60mm). The product can be used outside but is not recommended. Templock is manufactured in strong steel which is coated with an attractive paint finish. Access to the interior of the Templock box, and thus the handle of the door, is gained by a simple 3 dial combination lock. A key operated model is also available
