The first step in fitting Armaplate to the
rear door is to remove the door-trim. This is achieved by undoing 2
screws in the door-pull assembly and then removing the trim-plugs
with your tack-remover. |
Remove the lock-barrel circlip with a pair of
long-nosed pliers as you did on the front door.... |
|
|
...and then withdraw the lock barrel.
|
UUsing either the supplied drilling-template
or the zinc-coated backing plate as a guide, mark the holes for
drilling and then drill 4 holes starting with a small pilot hole
and ending with a 10mm bit.
|
|

|
and then remove the door
barrel... |
Using the supplied drill-template or gasket,
mark the holes for drilling. Use a small bit to drill a pilot hole
and then redrill with either a 10mm or conical drill-bit |

|
| |
Apply a small amount of touch-up paint to the
drilled holes. |
Fit a circular and rectangular gasket to the
back of the stainless steel plate and apply silicone sealant around
the stud areas. |

|

|
Fit the backing plate to the inside of
the door and reinsert the lock-barrel to hold it in place. |
Fit the front stainless steel plate and fit
the Nyloc Locknuts. It is difficult to reach the uppermost stud on
the right-hand side of the plate, so you will need to use your
conical drill-bit to make an access hole as demonstrated |

|

|
Secure the plates by fitting the Nyloc
Locknuts... |
The final step in the installation of Armaplate
is to make sure that the keyhole is perfectly aligned. Since the
locking nuts were not over-tightened, there is still a small amount
of adjustment available by gently tapping the edge of the plate |
|

|
Looking squarely at the keyhole, make sure the
lock-mechanism is in the center of the hole in the Armaplate. If it
is not perfectly aligned, use a soft-faced mallet to gently move the plate to the correct position |
Finally, close the door, insert the door key
and make sure that the door locks and unlocks easily |

|
Once you are happy that the plate is fitted
correctly, replace the inner door panels, door pull and window
winder. |
