Begin by using your tack-remover to pull out the trim-plugs
With the trim removed, you can now remove the lock-mechanism by undoing two retaining bolts as shown on the left.
Rotate the lock-barrel retaining clip anticlockwise and remove. You will not be refitting this item.
Remove the lock-barrel.
Using the gasket as a drilling-template, mark the door for drilling and then drill the four holes required. Remember to apply a small amount of touch-up paint to the drilled holes to provide protection.
Then insert the zinc-coated backing plate and reinsert the lock-barrel.
Fit the gasket to the back of the stainless steel frontplate and apply a small amount of silicone around the stud areas.
Fit the plate to the do
Now you need to fit the 2nd backing plate, attach the Nyloc Locking Nuts and tighten.
You will notice that access to two of the nuts is very awkward, so you need to drill two access-holes as shown. Click the photo on the left to see how.
DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN!
You can now reassemble the lock and door and test correct alignment with your key. Since you did not overtighten the locknuts, a small amount of movement is available by gently tapping the edge of the plate with a soft-faced mallet.
