If your front and back doors are not secure,
neither is your home.
Make sure the doors and frames are strong
and in good condition. Doors should be made
of solid core construction minimum of 44
mm thick.
Glass panels on or around the door are
especially vulnerable, so replace them with
laminated glass.
Fit back and front door locks with a minimum
of 5
lever dead locks and use them.
Fit all exterior doors, top and bottom
with bolts. Remember to fit all security
devices with strong screws or bolts.

latch which locks automatically when the
door is closed but can be opened from the
inside without the use of a key.

Fit a minimum of a five lever dead lock
at about 1/3 of the way up the door. If
the budget will allow make sure it is either
BS 3621 or CEN Grade 5.

Remember
If you fit a dead lock to the door, if a
thief gets in say through a window, he may
find it dam hard to get the TV out through
a locked door.

Try and always fit a minimum of three hinges
to an outside door. If the door opens outwards
always fit hinge bolts.

your door so you can see as much as you
can from outside.

Letter Boxes
Thief with small hands may be able to put
their hand through a letter box a open a
rim type lock. always try and fit the letter
box as far away from the leading edge of
the door. Or in some cases fit a letter
