Hi guys. My name is Darrel and I'm head of the tech team here at LocksOnline. Thanks for taking time to tune in and have a quick look at one of our product review videos. Now we're putting these short little videos together to give you, our customers, the opportunity to see the products that we have to offer in hopefully a little bit more detail. In the flesh, so to speak and hopefully help you make a bit better of an informed decision as to whether or not this is what you're actually looking for.
Today I'm going to show you a little chain that we have on our website. It's a security chain. It's manufactured by the company Arbus as you can see there. They class this particular chain here as being part of their standard security, and it's more predominately around a general purpose sort of chain. I mean they're mentioning here pushbikes and scooters, etc., in regards to the actual chain itself. So that's what they're kind of positioning this particular small chain in respect to what it's doing. On the back here also, you see therefore then, it mentions here that it has got anti saws, anti bolt cropper etc. So it's obviously designed to take hard knocks. It's actually made out of 6 millimetre hardened steel, as it says on the bottom here and intimates there that it's weather resistant, etc.
So let's actually get it out so you can actually see it in the flesh, so to speak. The actual chain itself, as you can see here, has got a cover on it, this fabric cover, and of course, that's designed not to damage whatever it's protecting, if it's a door or a pushbike, etc. It does actually afford a degree of protection so the chain isn't rubbing up against your paint. So there is an advantage there. You can see that these have been riveted together here to hold the actual fabric into place.
Now the actual overall length of this particular chain is 650 millimetres and as you can see there, it can actually handle maybe a push-bike around a lamppost sort of setup etc., so there is enough space there in which to achieve that. So that's pretty good news. The actual size of the final link holes here as you can see, that's probably one of the most critical things because if you're going to put a padlock to go with this, then you to need to know those sort of measurements.
So let's get the Vernier gauge out and I'll give you some sort of idea of the overall diameter of that there. So, the actual inside diameter of that slot there is around about 10 millimetres. Well, 9.899. Say about 10 millimetres maximum. If you've got a padlock that's got an 8 millimetre shackle or less, then guys, that's what you'll be looking at wanting to use to secure this. If you can get yourself a closed shackle padlock, we have a massive range on our website, then that would be even better.
Another important thing to consider as well is when you've got the two together, how much space have you got there, so therefore then if you did want to put a closed shackle on, you'll be looking there that you'll need something in the region of around about 13 to 14 millimetres of space in between the shackles to allow these two to clamp together there like that.
So, there you go guys. Just one of the literally thousands of products that we have on our website. Of course, doing this small little video does allow you to see the product in the flesh and hopefully then you can say, yeah that's just exactly what I'm looking for and you can pop your order online. Either way, we'd love to see you as a customer anyway. But if you need a bit more information on this or any of our products, pop us over an email, use the live chat that we have, or simply do it the old fashioned way and pick up the phone and give us a call. Love to hear from you. Love to see you as a customer as I've said. So from me, Darrel, and all of us at the team, thanks for taking the time to tune in. Hope to catch up with you real soon. Take care now. Bye-bye.
