Hi guys, my name is Darrel and I'm head of the tech team here at LocksOnline.co.uk. Thanks for taking the time to tune in and have a look at one of our product review videos. Today we're talking about power supplies. We've got an AC transformer power supply. It's a step-down power supply from 240 volts mains down to 12 volts AC. So it's very important for you to be made aware of that.
This particular power supply packs out at least one and a half amps so it's really really good when you've got electric locks that are AC and that demand quite a bit of power. A classical example of that is some of the two-set electric locks that we have on our website. The solenoid or the coil inside demands quite a bit of power to overcome the latching mechanism in which to actually allow the bolt to drive back. So in those particular applications you may need this particular type of transformer.
This is the Videx, the 322N transformer. Now as transformers go, anybody who's an electrical engineer or who knows a bit about electrics, etc. will see that this is actually designed to sit on what we call a dim layer. So it doesn't come with an actual enclosure.
If you're thinking that this is what you need to have you need to maybe consider getting yourself an external enclosure for it as well. Of course the main site is all double insulated as you can see there; so it's double protected. That's where the 240 volts main comes in. And on this side here, it's open and you can bring your 12 volt AC out there. No problem at all.
So, like I said they're available on our website now. The reason for doing this quick little video is so you can get some sort of idea of perspective and to see exactly how it all gets put together.
Let me just get a width on that for you...It's just over the 50 millimetres so I'm kind of guessing that's going to take you about three slots in a standard consumer board-type of setup if you're looking for a box for this to go into. Its height, overall height there for you, guys is 95 millimitres.
So if you need a bit more information or you want a bit more of advice as to what type of power supply you would need for whatever type of application you are considering...If you're not 100% sure and need a bit more advice, pop us over an email, use our live chat that's on our website or by all means pick up the phone and give us a call. Either way, we'd love to hear from you and more importantly we'd love to see you as a customer.
So from me Darrel and all of us here at the LocksOnline team, thanks for tuning in and we'll catch up with you real soon. Take care now, bye-bye.
