Hi guys. My name is Darrel and I'm head of the tech team here at LocksOnline. Thanks for taking some time to tune in and have a quick look at one of our product review videos. Now, we've put these short little videos together to be able to give you, our customers, the opportunity to see the products that we have to offer and hopefully a little bit more detail, or in the flesh, so to speak.
So today I want to show you a product, an electronic combination digital lock that we have on our website. It's manufactured by the company CodeLock and now CodeLock has been a UK based company now for many years and we've done quite a few different product reviews on their products over the years, etc. and this stands to no exception in regards to demonstrating the quality that they have managed to establish themselves of in this particular market, so thumbs up to them.
Now, this is the CodeLock 5000. I've actually kept it in the box this particular time. So what I want to try to do more so is have it as a bit of a "take it out of the box" sort of review. I'll allow you then to be able to see all of the different components, etc. that are situated inside.
Now they've also managed to get themselves a little bit of grading on here. I mean, this grade two here is an American grade but at least it shows that CodeLock are really working hard to be able to get themselves up a little bit further in the food chain when it comes to a security related product. Also as well I'm seeing here UL listing as well in regards to its three hour grading for fire safety, etc. So that's really, really thumbs up in regards to how they're looking at things like that. So that's probably a lot to do with their development and making sure that they sit at the pinnacle when it comes to access control or at least digital combination locks in this particular market.
So let's open it up and have an actual look inside. So you've got some instructions here and obviously showing then all the programming and operating instructions that you've got. Now as you can see here it's showing the 2000, 4000, 5000 series so therefore then, this particular manual here, which can be downloaded off the website and so forth and off our website. You can actually then have the program on how to program your codes and so forth in them.
In here also, you'll see that they have a template on how to actually fix that to the door as well. So you'll just lay that up onto the door there with a bit of Sellotape or whatever and it gives you all of your drilling points as well. So that's the actual user's instructions, so that's really, really good. It comes with some batteries as well as you can see there.
We've got a white box that sits in the centre here, so we'll quickly open that and have a look at what's actually inside that. So we have a set of keys which allows you to be able to have the key override assembly there. Also, we've got some plugs here for some of the features that this particular lock has and I'll go through those in a little bit more detail as well. It's got some fly leads, etc. there as well and obviously some keys so that's great there.
Then we've got some more fixing parts here which is all part of the locking. I mean, just look for example at the way that they fix the two locks together. I mean, this is a phenomenal steel core there that will allow you to pass cables through, etc. So there's a lot of effort made to make this product of great security in that respect, and then you have the actual latch itself. I'll get that out of here just to show you a few little features of this particular part of the actual lock as well.
So at this moment in time that latch can go in and out as you can see, there's no problem there, but this is a dead lock. So if I was to pop that in there like that it actually gets dead locked. So if anybody tried to run a credit card to try to and slip this particular lock over the piece of slip and maker. Therefore, that deadlocking facility there will stop that from happening. So when it actually gets fitted into the keep here, you need to mindful that the keep actually pushes that particular part in when you're actually installing that. So that's the actual latch itself, so I'll put those all to one side there.
Then we have the handles here. The handles are not physically connected because these would turn depending on whether or not you wanted it on the left or right handed. But again, they thought about the return to door here, so it means therefore you can open it with regards to DDA requirements via your elbow or other parts of your hand and of course, because it's got the return to door there as you can see, it'll stop you picking up your coat or whatever on the side of the handle and pulling you as it gets trapped. So, again, a lot of thought gone into that also.
Now also, in here then you have the actual, this is the actual back of the unit here. This is the part where you would actually install or have the batteries and the batteries are kept inside here and then the handle is situated on this. So, that's the actual back of the lock there and I'm running out of room slightly here and then this is the actual, this then here, is the actual front of the actual combination lock here and as you can see you've got the codes and so forth on there. You've also got the security cylinder in there where the keys were a little bit previously before and that allows you then to be able to mechanically override the lock if you ever need to do so. So, again, a lot of features and a lot of concepts in respects to that.
Now I wanted to quickly go back and what I'll do, I'll just pop this over to the side here a little minute. So, what I wanted to go back and show you is also that you can as I've mentioned before, you're in a position here that you can fit this to a door and you can allow it then to be able to have a push to release.
So for an example, if you're, say for an example, you've got a lock on your front door, you have a receptionist and somebody comes up to the door and you have this lock fitted there, of course, people who know the code will in and out like your work force, etc., but if say, I'm a visitor, then I might ring a doorbell or something similar. The lady in reception might see me, they can then press a button underneath the counter that would release this lock, etc. I can then press the handle down and I can come in. So that's part of one of those little connectors are for in here.
Also, as well, the other form of connector that's in here as well, it also allows you to interface it with a fire alarm system as well. So, in other words, if you've got this connected to a passage door where you're trying to restrict access through a certain part of a passageway but then that passageway is also a part of a fire escape or a means of escape then you can actually interface this particular code lock with your fire alarm system. So in the event of a fire, this particular lock would then would fail in the safe mode and therefore then you could just push the handle down and out you go through that particular means of escape.
So well worth thinking about this and these are the things that CodeLock are doing all the time to make sure that their products are innovative in our market sector. So I'm quite a strong supporter of CodeLock as a manufacturer.
Now, it's not my intention to power this up today. The actual user's instructions, etc. are on our website but it gives you an opportunity to see exactly how robust this particular product is. It has fantastic programming parameters and so forth and you can program in quite a few different codes, etc. into it and so forth.
It's what I would suggest as being one of the big brothers of combination locks when it comes to this particular CodeLock 5000. Seriously consider this, guys. If you're looking for something that's robust, durable, and so forth in an application, you need to seriously consider this particular type of lock. It will serve you proud for years to come I'm sure.
But if you need a bit more information on this or anything specific, one thing that CodeLock does, and they do it incredible well, is they offer fantastic customer service.
