The Borg 5008 is supplied with an adaptor to work with panic hardware such as push-to-exit bars and push-pads on emergency exits and fire escapes. In essence it works as what we would call in the industry an 'outside access device' for doors with panic hardware, such as fire exits and emergency escape doors. In most cases, these doors are only ever used as an escape route, but in a lot of settings, access needs to also be gained through those doors, whether it's for staff entry or deliveries etc, it can be important to have an outside access device to let people in without having to enter the building by means of a different route to then push the exit bar or pad to open the door. And ultimately, if you want to be able to put basic combination code access control on these doors, then this may be the perfect solution for you!
With no need for
power supplies or wiring, these are a fully mechanical code based entry
solution, designed for medium to heavy duty use. The
handles are also clutched to prevent damage if the handles were to be
forced
or heavily compressed after an incorrect code entry, and even down to
the finishes on these models which are fully PVD coated, you can expect
hard-wearing, lasting finishes from these devices.
Also worth noting on these particular models (as with all of the
50xx models within this Borg 5000 range), is that they are able to be used compliantly in DDA
applications. Although the handle looks modern and stylish compared to typical disability-friendly handles, this one does utilise the return-to-door technique and has a rubberised soft-grip on the inner side of the handle, which makes these suitable for disabled use. The buttons on these code locks are also designed to be
easy to use. They are larger than usual keypad keys, and offer a distinguishable push action,
which offers simplicity of use and confidence in whether or not each
button has been actioned correctly.
Free Passage Mode is also available as standard across the range, allowing you to set the lock into free mode to allow visitors to gain entry without the use of a code, or indeed to allow easier means of entry during delivery times etc for authorised persons.
