With a keypad on both sides for maximum security (especially on gates where hands could reach through to the other side), this marine-grade combination gate lock requires a correct combination code to be entered before unlocking the gate regardless of which side you're on. This is perfect for open gates or gates with low walls etc, where it would be easy to mitigate a single-sided solution by reaching over to unlock the gate if there was no keypad on the inside.
Because these are mechanical combination locks, there is no requirement for any power supply to the gate, which can be tricky to achieve in many gate applications, and to keep things nice and easy, these locks will latch automatically when the gate is closed, meaning there's no requirement for you to physically lock the gate behind you. This helps to ensure that the requirement for coded access is maintained without the risk of human-error in forgetting to lock the gate. For this reason, we recommend that a gate closer be used to ensure the gate is always closed without relying on the user to fully shut the gate.
These gate locks offer two different sized latch-bolts, which are also adjustable to allow you to fine-tune the operation to your gate specifically. The two principle sizes are suitable for 10-30mm gate frames, and then for 40-60mm gate frames. This relates to the physical thickness of the gate frame where the lock will be fitted (as demonstrated in the info diagram within the product photos), not to be confused with the gate post thickness which in this case is irrelevant to the fitment of the lock itself. The bolt travel into the gate post when operating the lock is an impressive 22mm of bolt travel, which offers a strong hold into the gate post (as a helpful point of reference for this, the British Standard 'BS3621' requires 20mm of bolt throw on the mortice locks it would apply to).
In addition, these locks have also been successfully salt-spray tested for 1000 hours, demonstrating their durability in harsh weather environments, and as such are classified as marine-grade, making them an ideal solution for the harsh weather gate locks must endure under the varied British climate.
Installation has been made really easy too, thanks to the simple but effective design of these locks. Full installation instructions can be seen within the fitting instructions we've made available to download, but effectively all that is required is to drill three holes in the gate, one in the gate post, and then there's also a long-lipped strike plate that simply screws onto the post.
Similarly, changing the code is relatively simple too, although we do recommend you exercise patience and caution when following the steps for this (in the instructions) as mistakes can be critical during this process and incorrectly seated tumblers in the combination chamber can cause permanent damage.
In order to maximise the performance and longevity of these locks, the manufacturer recommends a minimum maintenance schedule of 3 months - full details on this can be found in the installation instructions - we offer KABA lock maintenance spray as an optional extra for this, which is specifically formulated for mechanical locks, rather than generic alternatives.
These locks are handed due to having the combination lock on one side and a simple handle on the other; please refer to the handing diagram to ensure the correct handing is chosen when ordering!
