If you're looking for a domestic video doorbell intercom system that boasts some amazing features without breaking the bank, then perhaps this C80 intercom may suit your application.
The standard kit comes with one door station and one internal monitor. But can be expanded up to two door stations and four monitors, which gives you the option of having one on both your front and back doors, and video display in multiple rooms in the house. For example, it's very common these days to have an additional monitor in the kitchen for example, so that when you're cooking and can't easily abandon what you're doing to answer the door, you can take the call from a convenient point in the kitchen instead.
In addition to this great ability to expand, the door station itself boasts (or door stations, if you decide to go for two), has an illuminated keypad that allows you to open the door via a PIN number too, as well as the fantastic built-in proximity fob reader, which allows you to present fob to the door station to automatically gain entry. You can also add additional cameras to the system if you wish, so you can see areas that perhaps the intercoms camera may not be able to see. The system supports up to 2 additional cameras
The standard camera on the main intercom front door station is a CMOS chip sensor giving 420 line definition. It's viewing angle is 110 degrees and hosts a group of IR LEDs to assist with night time viewing. The front door station can be programmed to have up to 200 user fobs or codes, making this system quite impressive really in the grand scheme of things.
The door station is classified as anti-vandal, and is built with a rust-proof aluminium alloy. With its IP65 rating and unique waterproof, dustproof and anti-thunderstorm design, the build has been purposefully designed to withstand external conditions we in the UK consider to be quite normal! The door station has a relay output rated at 350mA switching capacity (at 12v), and comes with a 1 amp UK Mains plug adapter as standard. The relay activation time can also be configured between 2 and 10 seconds for different locking solutions.
If you plan on using standard alarm cable which is recommended the distance run from the front door station to the monitor/s should not exceed 28 meters, but if you went for cable core diameter bigger .5 mm this range can be extended to no more than 80 meters (shielded cable). This range can be extended if a separate video coax is used to 100 meters. It is recommended that you do not use CAT5/6 as the range is reduced to less than 20 meters.
The monitor that comes as standard as the ability to add further monitors to it (up to 3 extra monitors, 4 in total) and these monitors can also have up to two CCTV Cameras connected to the monitor as well as previously noted. When the door call station is pressed the alert will come up on the display and show the image from the front door station. Once the call is accepted you have up to 2 minutes to confirm and allow/disallow access before the communication path is shut down. If you decide to get extra monitors then you will have the feature to communicate between the monitors also. These monitors can also record snapshots and recorded footage from the door stations, which can be incredibly useful - for this, you'll need to pop in a micro-SD card into the side of the monitor, this can be up to 32Gb.
The monitors have different tones and loudness that can be programmed by the user in the set up menu.

Real World UK installation of these intercoms
The main layout of these systems rely on flush boxes being installed where the door station is fitted and where the monitors are to be fitted. It is common in European countries to have conduits where cables can be fed between the systems. This is not a common set up in the UK as we tend to use double insulated cables etc.
We would suggest that a socket flush box be fitted at the front door station location and also at the video door installation locations. These flush back boxes can then be used as termination boxes for the wiring to connect to the interfacing cables.
Even though the systems come with their power supply, you may find that a better installation could be had with a separate boxed power supply (2 amp) shown in the options. This means that power can be fed through the same cables (increase the cores) instead of having power supplies connecting each unit. Also, a 2 amp PSU will have power to feed an electric strike or an electric door lock (check power consumption) We have also put on the options to be considered a handy relay, just in case you needed to switch more load.
