Remote door entry for the elderly or disabled is becoming more and more popular as the industry develops to make life easier for those who need a little assistance. This professional audio intercom kit is designed to assist those who need it in allowing (or disallowing) visitors from entering the property, by allowing remote communication and remote control of an electronic locking solution.
More and more people are now being looked after in their
homes with care assistants coming a few times a day to help with the daily
needs of the individual. But there are times when the mobility of the home user
means that they are not in a position to come to the door when visitors are
calling and in some cases the door to the home is left open and this creates a
security risk in its own right.
This Videx intercom system has been compiled for persons
who's disability's makes it hard for them to get up to the door and also moving
to a position where a traditional handset on the wall would also be an
inconvenience. The system also offers a separate alarm relay, so that an alarm can be raised in an emergency.
The system comprises of four main modules listed below;
- The Front-Door Call Station
- A Handsfree Infra-Red Wall-Mounted Speaker Unit
- Touch-Contact Remote Control Unit
- Power Supply
The front door station is a one way intercom panel (can
have more buttons for communal door applications) that when the button is
pressed the internal handsfree wall mounted panel alerts the user that there is
someone at the door. They then can use their remote to point at the handsfree
intercom when the two 'TALK' tabs are touched the user can speak to the person
outside. When the tabs are released the user can then listen to the person
outside. We call this simplex speech. The other two tabs on the remote allows
the user to release an electric release that may be fitted to the door. The front door unit also has a vision panel where you can
pop you name in for identification purposes.
The handsfree unit has three buttons, one to talk to the
person at the door, one for engaging privacy mode and the other to open an
electric lock (not supplied). Locksonline has a vast range of electric locks and
electric strike release for traditional and modern doors, whether they are made
out of wood, composite, uPVC and metal. Click here to view our range of electronic locking devices.
The handset works by means of metal touch-sensors, which when connected (by touching them both with your finger or palm) sends the infra-red signal to the indoor unit, which in turn then sends the trigger to the outside call station. So when touching the two parts of the 'TALK' contacts together, speech is enabled, and similarly then when touching both parts of the 'OPEN' contacts together, the relay inside the door station will be triggered, which depending what device you have wired to it, will trigger a reaction (such as the door unlocking). However, if you touch all four metal contacts together (ie, by laying your palm, forearm, foot etc across the whole remote face), this triggers a separate relay known as an alarm relay. This can be used for anything but it is designed to be used as
The front door unit is a surface fit product as well as
the handsfree unit that can be fitted within the home. Be mindful that the user
will need to be in the same room as the handsfree unit as the controller uses
infra red (like a TV remote) to communicate with the handsfree unit.
The videx handsfree wall mounted unit has a privacy
function that allows the user to stop nuisance calls or if privacy is required
for a good nights sleep
