About

The paxton P series readers are supplied with a choice of black or white fascias that can be fitted in the final stages of installation. Replacement fascias are available to Paxton Access registered installers free of charge.

Installation

The compact reader has two wires which connect to the lock and two wires which connect to the power supply. There are two wires for connection to an exit button if required. The vandal proof reader is buried into the wall. The most secure mounting is in a blind hole (see illustration below). Once installed, present the enrolment card to the reader. All the tokens in the pack are now valid.

Operation

- User tokens are valid and ready for use once installation is complete. Every user token is supplied with a corresponding shadow card. As user tokens are issued, the name of the user is marked on the shadow card. If a user is to be barred, or a user card is lost, the shadow card marked with the users' name is presented to any readers on site. This simple action invalidates the user card. Another user token may be issued for that user.

Additional features can be programmed using the PROXIMITY function card pack. These features include zoning which allows you to limit access by zone colour.

Hi, guys. My name is Darrel and I'm head of the tech team here at LocksOnline. Thanks for taking some time to tune in and have a quick look at one of our product review videos. Now I'm putting these short little videos together to be able to give you, our customers, the opportunity to see the products in the flesh, so to speak, in just a bit more detail than you may get just from the webpage.

So today I want to show you again quite a popular product that's on our website. It's a product that's manufactured by the company called Paxton, been around now for quite some time. Absolutely fantastic quality products, Paxton. I've done quite a lot of time for them. I think they're the company themselves British and so forth. They make exceptionally good products and great backup support as well, I must say.

So for this here in the box here, if we take it out it's the P50. It's the part of the proximity access control readers. It's part of the compact range. And the idea is quite simply is you have a reader and you can have a set of cards and it allows you then to be able to present a card to this reader. The reader recognises the card, and then it changes state on a relay and opens a door. So that's quite simple.

Today what we in front of us is the actual reader, itself. There's three different sizes of these readers. The one we have is the P50, which is the most popular. But they do do a bigger version which is the P75. There's also the P38 which is a small, little toppy thing that could be used if you wanted to bit more discreet.

Now it comes as standard with two faceplates. There's the grey faceplate. And then there's also then the charcoal faceplate as well. Those two different types of faceplates. This is the actual reader itself and it has then three LEDs there. Those LEDs are indicating LEDs to let you know whether or not access is granted or access is denied. They also allow you to help you when you're doing the programming and so forth to give you indications as to what the programming is doing as you go through the program and so forth of it.

I'm not planning on popping into the programming here. It's just to give you an opportunity to see the product more so. So it comes then with all the cables. On the back then you can see it's all epoxy resin in there. So it totally encased and sealed. There's a little bleeper there that allows you then for the unit to bleep when it accepts or denies a command when you might present a card against it, and so forth.

Also, as well, it comes there with some clips and so forth for the cables and screw fixings and so forth, as well, in the box with it. Now also when it comes to wiring one of these you've got the instructions manual and if I was to open up the first part of the instruction manual there, again, first class for Paxton. They've actually colour coded all the wires. Instead of having block diagrams and flow chart diagrams, they've actually done it as pictorially as it can possibly be on both sides there. And it just makes perfect sense. It's so easy.

So for example, red wire is 12 volts. Black wire is 0. Then you've got the lock then which is 12 volts. The lock is 0 volts. Those are the colours that would go to the stripe or the electric lock or whatever you have and then you've got an exit input, a press to release from the other side of the door and so forth. So it all makes perfect sense in regards to how it all works.

So there you go, guys. It's just an opportunity for you to be able to see the product in the flesh, so to speak. So therefore if you're thinking of fitting it or you're thinking that this is exactly what it needs to be and you're looking at an access control solution, then maybe this is the reader for you.

Now Paxton do kits then of cards that you can have. I think they start around about 10 all the way up to around about 100 users. So therefore, then, it ideal then if you want to start putting different levels of cards and so forth.

So there you go. Not much more that I can say other than if you're looking for a product maybe this is the guy for you. But if you need a bit more information on this or any of the products, now, pop us over an email, use the live chat, or simply do it the old-fashioned way and give us a call. Either way, we'd love to hear from you and more importantly, we'd love to see you as one of our customers. So from me Darrel, and all of us on the team thanks for taking the time and catch up with you soon. Take care.
