Hi, guys. My name is Darrell. I'm head of the tech team here at LocksOnline
UK. Today we're going to have a look at the dual
action electric lock. So here we have it. We're going to zoom in close on
that.

Okay, so why is this lock a little bit different to what most electric
locks are? Well, one of the benefits is, is that it can work on a door that
swings both ways. So if you've got an aluminum door you can actually get
this lock to work on whichever way you want the door to swing, if it swings
in or out. So that's one of the main advantages.

It comes with two different types of keys; that's the one for the door
swing and this one here is one that is for a single leaf door which opens
only one way. So that's one of the unique advantages with this particular
electric lock.

The actual size of the case itself. The actual case is 180 millimeters high
and the fore end length is 255 millimeters, there abouts. And the backset
is available in 25, 30, and 35 backsets. Now the backset is the measurement
from the leading edge to the centre of the cylinder here. You'll fit your
old cylinder inside these, so you can mechanically override the lock if you
need to for in the event of a power failure or for whatever reason it may
be.

Here you have a deadlocking, so when the actual lock is in the
actual keep here like this it actually physically dead locks this piece so
it can't be moved. So it's good for insurance purposes if they require the
lock to be dead locked. So that actually dead locks that sned there. Okay?

So what we do is we're just going to power this up now and actually show
you guys how the lock works when you apply the electric power to it.

Okay, and welcome back. Now we've put some power to the electric lock here,
so what we've got now is we've got positive and negative being applied to
these connections. I don't know if you can zoom in there for us, Sol.

I want you to also find here it's got common, move in close. There's
actually a set of relays in here; when the electric lock is in the lock
position these relays change state to allow then for some sort of indicator
to know whether or not the lock is locked or unlocked, et cetera. So that's
really good to have on an electric lock.

So at this moment in time we've got no power, so if I was to press that in
that is now technically locked. So, if I now apply power by just using the
on the battery here, so it's a little bit but it works. So I've got power now applied to it; that now is
released. So if that now is in the door that would actually pull out no
problem at all. If I disconnect the power, okay, that now has gone back
solid again.

So that's how an electric lock works. If you're thinking of fitting one of
these, this obviously fits inside the door and what normally happens is you
try and run this cable with inside the door. You can actually purchase
drill bits that are ten millimeter in diameter that will actually drill all
the way through the door from the hinge side. And what you would need to
look out then and what we call a door loop that would actually go on the
hinge side to allow the power to get through from the frame to the door. So
this particular type of electric lock fits in the actual door itself.

If you have enough meat in the frame there is actually no reason why this
screw lock couldn't fit in the frame as well. But you may forego the
mechanical locking operation for that.

So there you go. This lock now is available on LocksOnline, and they're
going a bit like hotcakes at this moment in time. So many thanks for having
a look and if you're thinking of getting one give us a shout. Appreciate
your time; thank you. Bye, bye.
