Hi, guys. My name is Darrel and I'm head of the tech team here at LocksOnline.co.uk. Thanks for taking some time to tune in and have a look at one of our product review videos. Today we're talking about strike releases. Now more importantly, we're talking about a strike release that's designed to work with an Ingersol SC71 type rim night latch. It's quite a special particular type of strike release because it's really only geared to work around this particular range of locks.

Now Ingersol, if I would go back 10 years ago, Ingersol was quite a prevalent make on the security industry. They were used a lot on escape doors, et cetera. The chances are, they're still around and they are still being used. Of course, they're still being manufactured but as trends move on, perhaps they're not as trendy as what they were, say, 10 years ago.

Nevertheless, you may have electric strike releases that are working with this particular type of Ingersol lock. If you are and there's a problem with it, then perhaps this is the strike release that you need to be looking at.

Now this is a significant strike release, as you can see there. It's build on a bit of quality and, of course, the finish is quite good as well. As you can see here, this is a chrome finish. It also comes in a polished brass finish as well, which is indicative of the quality of the Ingersol type locks that this is meant to work with.

Now this particular version that I have here is what we call a failed unlock version. So in other words, the jaw will open, as you can see me doing that there, whilst there's no power applied to it. There are two different types of versions. It's failed unlock and failed lock. As you can see, the failed lock version works that if the power was to fail to the access control solution that you may have, then this would fail in the lock position and the door would be secure.

If you had a failed unlock version like this, which you would predominantly use on escapes and means of escape, fire escapes or access through from one area to another, then in the event of a fire and power is to fail on that building, then you need that door to have free access. So that's the reason why you'd use a failed unlock version.

Now Ingersol SC71 locks were used a lot on escape functions when you needed a degree of security but at the same time, you need the ease and flexibility to get out easily by operating the handle. The failed unlock version works in conjunction with those quite straightforward.

It comes with either 12 or 24 volts. It comes in, like I've said, the failed lock and the failed unlock version. Of course, it then as well in a chrome finish as you see here, or polished brass finish.

What I'll do is I'll get some measurements for you. Just to make sure that if you're thinking this is the one for you, let's double check to make sure that it has the same footprint.

The actual case depth there, which is the rim application, as you can see that will sit rim on the door. So the overall front faceplate there is 63mm there. The actual depth of it is 45mm. The height of the actual lock, as you can see, that there is 105mm. The size of this bolt here, the opening there is 15mm and the jaw depth is 14mm. And the jaw length there is 30mm.

If you've got a lock with those sorts of measurements, there's no reason why you couldn't necessarily use this particular lock on that, but of course it was designed around that SC71 sort of Ingersol lock. Inside, if you zoom in, as you can see, it says here 12 volts DC. You can see just at the top there are the terminals. But of course, if this is on the other door, then the terminal is going to be sitting at the bottom, as you can probably gather.

So there you go, guys. There's not really much more I can say. But listen, if there's a bit more information or a bit more advice that you're looking for, by all means, give us a shout. Give us a call on the telephone number. By all means, use our live chat on our website. It's totally free. You can talk to me or any of the guys. We'd love to hear from you and, more importantly, we'd love to see you as a customer. So from me, Darrel, and all of us here at the LocksOnline Team, take care and we'll catch up with you real soon. Bye-bye now. Bye-bye.
