This particular model of is the GEM GK350, also known in the UK as the GEM ER350. It boasts an impressive holding force of 454kg, which equates to 1000lbs of holding force - an imperial tonne! With this, their endurance test they surpassed the requirements for 250,000 cycles by four times, totalling 1 million cycles without causing failure.
One distinct advantage of these GEM strike releases, is that they offer the much loved fail-locked / fail-unlocked toggle, allowing you to swap and change the operating function of the strike on-site before fitting. This is hugely beneficial for installers who would be fitting a mixture of fail-safe and fail-secure solutions all the time, as it allows you to buy one item with the ability to cover all bases.
These strikes are operated by 12v DC, and consume approximately 250mA. They are capable of operation in temperatures below zero (range of -10ºC -> 45ºC) and can withstand high humidity levels with a tolerance of up to 95% non-condensing humidity.
These will accept 15mm of latch throw, which coupled with the obligatory 'air gap' between the door and the frame, means you'll be able to use a nightlatch with a typical 16-17mm latch projection. It is important to note however, that these cannot accommodate the more modern BS3621 deadlocking nightlatches.
