The EB-133 electronic solenoid bolt lock is a compact stainless-steel bodied electric locking mechanism which gives a full range of features including door monitoring at a very cost-effective price.
It caters for installation on metal doors (along with more common timber doors etc), thanks to the narrow and low-profile body. Along with the overall design lending itself well to metal doors, these are also supplied with cranked fixing plates to allow for installation on hollow metal doors which can be a huge saving grace in certain applications where most locks would not work as a morticed solution in a hollow section.
Built as a fail-safe solution, these locks require power to lock, and in the event of power failure will unlock. This is important if to allow free escape in the event of an emergency and complete power failure; but it is worth considering getting a power supply with a battery backup facility (which are offering in the ordering options), in order to maintain your security in the event of power outages.
The lock is also relatively low on power consumption too; running on 12v DC you can expect a current consumption of just 160mA after the initial surge of 880mA. So these can easily be powered by a simple 1Amp power supply unit. Of course if you intend on powering your access devices or any other components off the same power supply unit you'd need to calculate the maximum demand of all those units and consider a more appropriately rated power output for your needs. But for a basic scenario we have a 1Amp supply listed for a simple setup.
