The EB-300 is a surface-mounted electric solenoid bolt lock by GEM. Where most solenoid bolt solutions are a mortice type application physically fitted into a cut-out in the door or frame, these mount cleanly and simply onto the surface of the door and frame, and can therefore be fitted to a huge range of door setups from a typical wooden door with a timber frame, through to old aluminium doors - or even cabinets and similar as long as you have the space and handiness to do it!
One of the most common requirements with any electrically driven lock is to have door status monitoring. If you're setting up a large access control solution, chances are you're going to have a monitoring station or even more simply just a set of lights displaying whether the door is locked or unlocked; if this is the case then the EB300 has got you covered; offering door monitoring outputs triggered by the lock's state, which will only ever be locked if the magnetism detected between the lock and the keep has been established (meaning the door would be in the closed position).
Running on 12v DC, these are a fail-safe solution. This means in the event of power failure occupants would not be locked inside due to the access control system going down without power. It does however mean that free entry would also be possible. So it is always advised with a fail-safe solution to go for a power supply with a battery backup facility to tie you over until the power is back online. We offer this in the list of options to buy with this solenoid bolt lock.
One of the distinct pointers that should not be overlooked on this, is the full 16mm bolt throw. This is above average on a solenoid bolt and achieves the same projection of most 5 lever deadlocks out there. This gives a good measure as a comparison, and certainly puts this model above others in that respect. The bolt is also 16mm thick, which is a substantial size too.
