Bring the power of RemoteLock to your doors and access systems, with this smart universal door controller!
Capable of managing two doors with separate keypads, and virtually any electric lock you may have fitted - this Smart Controller really opens up your access control solution to the wonders of the RemoteLock system, giving you all the features and benefits of the RemoteLock Portal, and of course the App which is available for your smartphone or tablet.
There are two offerings in the UK from RemoteLock - the Wifi SmartLock, and this universal smart controller. If you just want to get the power of a smart lock on your door, which can integrate with AirBnB and other booking platforms should you want it to, then in most cases for this simple setup, the smartlock solution would work well. But if you have existing electric locks installed, or you wish to use the RemoteLock system on doors which cannot have the smartlock fitted, then the smart controller gives you all the power of the RemoteLock system, but can be integrated on just about any electric locking systems!
The main benefit of the Smart Controller over the Smart Lock, is it allows you to control maglocks, solenoid bolts, electric multipoints, electric strike releases, even gate controllers and door operators, all backed by the powerful RemoteLock portal, and all now able to be integrated into AirBnB, HomeAway, Guesty, August, Barefoot, Streamline, Vera and VacationRentalDesk. And of course, this can all work alongside any existing intercom systems you may have in place, so there's no need to remove any existing systems if you still want to use them also.
If you're already familiar with the RemoteLock system, then you'll already know the powerful remote-programming features it offers, and the extensive level of control it provides from anywhere in the world over the internet.
The RemoteLock portal allows you to login from anywhere in the world - be it from your smartphone, tablet, laptop or desktop computer - via your browser, or the app which is available on the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. From this portal you can add and delete users, change PIN codes, set up proximity card/fob access, adjust access times for specific users, as well as set up guest codes which work only for a designated period of time before expiring. You can even login and unlock your door as a one-off rather than issuing a temporary code, if you need to let somebody in immediately as a one-off.
Whether you already know about Weigand or not, in principle this is a communication protocol used commonly in the access control industry, for transmission of data which can be universally read and understood by other Weigand compatible devices. The Smart Controller uses Weigand as its communication protocol, allowing you to use any keypad or prox reader with weigand outputs. For simplicity, we offer a smart and compact PIN & Prox unit which offers both technologies for you, giving you the choice of PIN or Prox - or indeed both! But if you understand this technology and wanted to add some of your own, you can.
In order to use the Smart Controller, one integration must be used which is the HID Mercury platform. This basically allows the hardware in the Smart Controller - which is made by HID - to communicate to the RemoteLock portal in order to give you the control you need.
Optionally, you can also add multiple booking integrations to your system. This is fantastic news for AirBnB hosts, and anyone letting out their properties using HomeAway, Guesty, Vera, August, Barefoot, Streamline, or VacationRentalDesk. These service integrations allow you to take full advantage of the integration methods supported by these booking services, allowing you to minimise your workflow when taking bookings.
With AirBnB as a prime example, once integrated, your guests can make bookings, and codes can be generate for them by the communication that would then happen automatically between the RemoteLock system and AirBnB's booking system.*1
This means you don't have to go in and set everything up for each guest. The two systems will communicate and work together to grant access for the necessary time of the booking, helping make your job that little bit easier, and quicker!
There are fees to pay in order to use this system*2, and depending on the level of functionality required, there are tiers of rates depending on the features you need in order to minimise costs for those who do not require things such as online booking integrations. For full transparency, we've put together a chart of rates correct at the time of writing this, which is shown below. Please note that the basic plan is not suitable for the Smart Controller, as service integrations are required for this to work, so Premium or Pro plans must be considered for this system.
