Mauer A700091 Mauer Variator Safe & Gun Cabinet Lock

Hi guys. My name is Darrel and I'm the head of the tech team here at LocksOnline.co.uk, and today we're looking at some products. And more importantly, we're looking at, I have to get this right now, it's the Mauer, I'm sure that's pronounced incorrectly, it's the A700091 Variator Safe Lock. And this is it here, this is the bad boy here.

Now it's obviously designed to be fitting into safes. And it's more of a replacement lock really, more so that we do here is replace if you've lost the keys, and you need to change the lock or your lock is broken etcetera. And you may need to get a new lock, etcetera, then this might be the lock that you're looking for.

It's VDS35, which is a German certification system, so therefore it does comply to the standards for it being in compliance with a safe lock. It's comes as standard as an eight lever mechanism, that's built inside. So we're looking at top security there, in comparison to some other lesser lever security. And, of course, it's also double-bitted there. So look at the style of the key there, okay? It's quite a significant style of the key. It's called a double-bitted key. So that's what that is.

But what I'll also do is, I don't know if you can actually zoom in there, Lee, for us, if I hold that tight there, you can see that we've got this plate on the back here, showing all it's certification and all it's specifications. Got it sitting on the back, I don't know if you get that in good zoom there. So if your safe on you your particular door is playing up then, hopefully, they may still have a sticker on the back in which case then you can cross tally to see if this is the one for you.

But, to give you a little bit more information as well, the front of it here, here's the bolt here. And as you can see, look, there are two fixing holes on there, and that may be unique to your particular type of safe and set up as well. And on the back here as well then, it's a side, well it can be a vertical shoot or a side shoot really, it depends on how you fit that, but there's the keys. They would go in there like that. Wrong way around. They would go in there like that. Okay? And then that will allow you then to throw the bolt back. That's me throwing the bolt back there.

Now this is the type of lock where you can't take the key out when your lock is in the open position. It's only when you close the door and you throw the bolt back over, can you take the keys out. So that's quite important to be aware of now. So that's what that is there. All right?

Now I'll give you some measurements, because if you're thinking, "Oh, this looks to be right" let's just get some measurements of these centre fixings etcetera, so hopefully you can be more on to knowing that it's the right particular type of lock that you're looking for. So those centre fixings there, I'm getting there of being 67mm, roughly about, well 67mm centres to centres there. And the centres there is, we'll look at that now, that's going to be about 42mm, 43mm across there.

The overall case then there, I'll give you an overall case length, is just a smidgen under say 98mm, thereabouts. And it's width there is 60mm. The back set, which is from here to the centre of that pin is where you put your key in, I'll get that measurement as well, because that's going to be your hole in your safe door. And I'm getting a measurement in there at about 58mm there, guys. Okay?

The bolt projects out all of about 14-15mm and that's how far the bolt will project. I'll just double check to make sure it goes in all the way. That's on the key again, two secs. There, it just stays out just a little fraction there when it's in its unlocked state.

So there you go, guys. Let me get through that again. It's the Variator Safe Lock, the Maurer. I probably pronounce that wrong. It's the A700091 Safe Lock that's now available on LocksOnline.co.uk. And if you require some more information, if there's something I haven't mentioned there and you think, "Oh, I could do with that, or I'd like to know that" listen, use the phone, use our live chat on our website. It's totally free, it doesn't cost you a penny. So you know can chat with us during the course of the day, no problem at all.

So from us, like I said, give us shout. What we'd love to do, however, is to see you as a customer. That would be really appreciated. So from me, Darrel, and all of us here, take care. Thanks, bye-bye now.
