Hi guys. My name is Darrel. I'm head of the tech team here at LocksOnline.co.uk and thanks for taking the time to watch one of our product review videos. More importantly, the product that we've got here in front of us at this moment in time is the Lowe and Fletcher 7 Lever Cabinet Lock. And here is the actual cabinet lock here, as you can see.

Little bit of history about this particular type of cabinet lock, they've been around for a long time. They were used a lot, not so much these days, but they were used extensively in safes. If you had little cupboards inside of a safe, a locking little drawer or something like that, then the chances are you may be familiar with that type of cylinder projection there. That's what you would see. Obviously you wouldn't see the lock, it would be on the inside. But that's the sort of style there.

And the type of key that it takes is this type of flat key here, as you can see here. They were used as these little drawers and so forth and in cabinets. They were used quite extensively, as well, in drug cabinets, and so forth. So, they've been around for a long time, they're still in production, there's nothing fancy about that. They still are being made and they still are obviously being used. I see other different types of cabinet locks coming out onto the market, and these probably are not as popular, but like I say, they still are being used and obviously being installed in the UK in the thousands probably.

Now, one of the distinct advantages with this particular type of setup is the nozzle projections. And you'll see on our website is that we can offer these in different nozzle projections, and that's from the face plate there, which will obviously be bolted on the inside, and how far that this nozzle can project through. They come in four different sizes, if my memory serves me right — the 6 mil, which isn't a lot at all, the 16 mil, 22 millimetre, and then obviously 28 millimetre, which is the biggest of them.

Obviously what you'l, find as well is that these, again, are used a lot in metal cabinet locks where they've pop riveted through to the fixings or they've bolted through. And if it's very very thin, then you would have obviously only used the small 6 millimetre projection.

So if I was to get some measurements on this for you now, it'll give you an informed decision as to whether or not, if you're thinking of replacing it, or whether or not this is the type of cabinet lock that you're looking for, you have an application, you want to fit one, then at least then you'll get a little bit more measurements to suit your application. So I'll get the ruler. Now, just to give you guys some sort of idea there, this nozzle projection here is 22 millimetres, so you can get up on a little further than this, which is obviously 28 millimetres.

The backset is the measurement from where the bolt would come out to the centre of the keyhole there, and in our case we're talking 20, 21 millimetres, say 21 millimetres. So from there to the centre of the keyhole is 21 millimetres. Similarly, the fixing backset would be obviously 21 millimetres as well. Those fixing centres, let's see if I can get a measurement on that for you guys. I'm talking 56-57 millimetres. So from there to the centre of those fixings, they're about 57 millimetres, give or take a millimetre.

When you actually operate these, the way that you would do it is you would put the key in there like that, and then you would throw the key and that would throw the bolt out there as you can see. They do a different version as well; that's also on our website.

They do one which is spring latch loaded. So, what you would do is you would open it with a key, pull the drawer open and the latch would come back ready that when you slam it, it would lock again. Used for cash drawers a lot. So, you would open it with a key, get what you want, and then you would just slam the drawer back and then without the key, you know it's going to be locked. But the principal of the operation and the mechanical size, etc., of them is exactly the same. I do believe, however, they don't have the myriad of different projections that the deadbolt version, which this is, has.

So there you go, guys. I don't think that there's much more I can say about them. They are available under special order key like. If you wanted a group of them all under their special key, under the same key, it's a special order but we can get them for you.

So, if there's anything else that you need to know, or you need some more information, pop us over an email, pick up the phone, or we've got live chat on our website. We'd be more than willing to want to hear from you. More importantly, we'd love to see you as a customer. So from me, Darrel, all of us here at LocksOnline, take care and thank you very much for your time. Bye-bye now.
