Hello guys, my name is Darrel, and I'm head of the tech team here at LocksOnline.co.uk Today we are going to look at simple little what we call a 'cut cupboard lock'.
So nothing fantastic about it, save even except that obviously if you've got a little cabinet or little cupboard, and you want to fit a lock on and get a bit of security etc. then this is probably what you would want to be doing. Now they call it a cut cupboard lock purely and simply is that as you can see here, if I sit it like that, you would actually cut out the wood so this would actually sit within the door. So when you open the door and you look at the back of it, then what you would see is this brass finish here on the back of the door, and it would sit flush, so it would look quite tidy.
This are handed, so you either buy it in a left hand or a right hand version depending on what you are looking for. Now these are called I think it's 63, I think, if my memory serves me right - forgive me, 64 millimetres case height here, and it's the measurement from here to here, is the measurement. So let me just get that for you. I can use the ruler, probably be easier. This particular one here is 64 millimetres. that's bang on.
To give you some more measurements because it is quite important to know what measurements you are looking for, is the backset, and that's from the leading edge here to the centre of where the key would go into. And we've got a measurement there of 15 millimetres, 16 millimetres, near as damn it.
Now, of course, if you notice here as well is that there's two positions. And that means that you can either put it in the vertical position like that which means your key hole will sit down there like that, nice and tidy. Or you can sit it in the horizontal position, in other words your key holder will sit down like that. So if you've got a drawer and you want to use this on a drawer to pull back in and out etc., it will work in two particular positions, either horizontally or vertically.
Now it's not the highest security, it's a one lever lock. So there's very little in the way of security on this particular lock. It's more to just to keep something locked and closed etc. when you are not using them
And that's basically how it works guys, it's not much you can say about that. But I'll get you some measurements anyway, because it's important that if you're thinking that you need something simple and finishing off a carpentry project or a bit of joinery that this may be the lock that you are looking for.
So we've measured the length or the height depending on what you are looking at there, and that's obviously 64 millimetres. The finishing size there as well, I'll get that for you. That there is just run about 10 millimetres, 11 millimetres in there like that. The bolt sticks up 6.5 millimeters and the width of the bolt there as well is 20 millimetres.
So like I say, it's really not anything special. You might want to consider getting your set if you are fitting it, as a new install, we do these nice finishing escutcheons. I'll just pop over . . . I'm almost sure we've got some here on the benches so let me just double-check to make sure that they are here. Yeah, here they are here. Let me show you one of these. Because if you're fitting these for the first time and it's a new install, you can get these from us as well.
They are sold separately, but they are a little . . . You'd cut your hole out and these are slightly chamfered and then you tap these in, and then you'd have a lovely finish then to your nice bit of oak furniture or cabinet and so forth.
So there you go. They are available from us LocksOnline.co.uk and if this is what you are looking for, if this is going to fit your bill, come and see us, or pick up the phone, or click 'Add to cart'. We'd really appreciate that.
But anyway, from me Darrel Walters, we thank you for taking the time to look at this video, and catch up with us real soon. Take care now. Bye-bye.
