Hi guys. My name is Darrel and I'm head of the tech team here at LocksOnline.co.uk and thanks for taking some time to tune in to one of our product review videos. The product that we have here today is the Union. It's the 4138 springbolt cabinet lock that's available now on our website. Here's the actual lock here in all its fine and glory.

Now there are a couple of distinct advantages with this particular type of lock. It can either work on a cabinet, which is its permutation at this moment in time, because, if you look there, you'll see that it's a cut cupboard lock. In other words you would cut it out to fit in nice and flush there as you can see it there, it would go inside there just a little bit.

As you can see where the key permutation there now, at this moment in time, that would work no problem at all with a cabinet. As you can imagine the key is in a vertical position. But one of the distinct advantages with this particular type of cabinet lock, and a thumbs up to Union for thinking about this, but you can actually rotate this. This actual part here can rotate, and if you'll notice, I don't know if you can zoom in there, but you can see this little cam that sits there okay? So at this moment in time it's at the vertical position which would be ideal for a cabinet.

So I'm going to, with a, with a lock pick, I'm going to try and push that out there, and I can push that out there into a vertical position there like that. And now, I can quite easily turn that round until it goes into the hole. Where's the other hole there? Oh there it is there, sorry. Now all of a sudden I can drop that back down in there and now it's a drawer lock. So now you can actually have it on a till or a drawer people slide open.

But one of the distinct advantages with this particular lock as well is the springbolt version. As you can see there, as soon as you slide the door closed in to the closed position, this is going to spring over and lock into position. So you don't need a key in which to lock the cupboard or the drawer that you decide to fit this lock to. As soon as you close it, it will slam lock, hence the reason why they call it a till lock. Pure and simply you would take the cash out of the till and then you slam the till back and it would automatically lock.

Now it comes as standard with two keys and obviously you would need the key then in which to turn that and you could then operate the latch there like normal. It also comes as well with a nice little finishing rosette there to finish off. Once you've drilled your hole, you can use the rosette then to finish off the hole.

Now it's a cut version. So what it means is that you're going to have to chisel out all of the inside here in which to fit this nice and flush into your drawer or into your cupboard. So it's called a cut version because of that particular reason. It doesn't sit on top. You have to mortise it in or cut it in to the actual cupboard itself.

So what I'm going to do, there's two different sizes available in this one. This is the largest of the two and the two, the measurements are typically on our website. I think it's 52 and I think it's 60-, I'll just double-check here now. Yeah, it's a 64mm version, which is what this one is. And there's also a 52mm version as well on our website, so just in case you wanted to know that.

But what I can do as well is I can give you some measurements here of the diameter of that, of the cylinder there, that's 22mm projection there, sorry, diameter. And the projection of the actual cylinder itself is 16mm okay? So if you're thinking of fitting this in flush, from the back to the front of the actual lock, it's overall thickness there is 27.5mm. All right, so just to give you some sort of idea as to if you're thinking of fitting it, then you've got an idea of how far in you need to fit it etcetera or how far in the substrate is that you're trying to fit it to.

So there you go guys, it's the 4138. It's the Union springbolt lock, and like I said, it's available in either hand where you can put it either there or you can put it on it's side depending on if you're fitting it on a drawer or a cupboard. So, great little product. I love it. I think it's great. It's Union, so you know it's good quality.

So if there's something that I haven't mentioned and you need to know a little bit more information, listen, pop us over an email. Use the live chat. It's totally free on our website, and we love free, and you can chat with us all day if you want on any of these particular products or any product that's on our website. By all means, give us a chat. If it's in the evenings, pop us over an email and we can have a chat with you then in the following day. Either way, we'd love to see you as a customer. That would be really great for us. So from me, Darrel, and all of us here at the LocksOnline team, thanks for tuning in and we'll catch up with you real soon. Take care now. Bye-bye.
