Now, we're putting these short little videos together to be able to give you, our customers, the opportunity to see the products that we have to offer and hopefully, a little bit more detail, or in the flesh, so to speak, and help you make a bit better of an informed decision as to whether or not this particular product is suitable for your application.
So today I want to show you a Lim Series Padlock. This is a padlock that's been manufactured by the company, Cisa, which is an Italian-based company, and the actual product is the 28550 padlock that's been designed here.
Now, this particular type of padlock, they call rectangular padlocks, because the way the shackle and all works is slightly different from that of a traditional padlock that probably you and I and everybody else are a bit more familiar with. The distinct advantages with this particular type of padlock is that the actual shackle itself is incredibly well-protected and even if you were to try and hit it off with a hammer, because the shear loads are locked against ball bearings directly; therefore, it's much harder to be able to circumvent by physical attack on this particular type of padlock.
Now, this particular padlock comes with two keys as standard. There are different sizes in respect to this particular range of padlocks, in regards to physical size and the size of the gap here and obviously the size of the shackle pin as well. So the way that this would basically work is it comes as standard with two keys. You pop the keys in there, you turn it, and this allows you then to throw the bolt out that way. So therefore then, whenever you want to secure it, whether it be two pieces of chain, link them together, pop that in there like that, rotate that, and therefore then now they're locked inside that particular body there.
And to gain access and to try and attack it, you know you're going some to try and get through this particular type of padlock. So it really has some real big distinct advantages in respect to that. And as you can see here Cisa has branded this as being a hardened padlock to obviously reduce that force attack.
Now, one of the drawbacks perhaps with this particular type of padlock is that the actual aperture here, the opening, is quite small so you need to make sure that whether or not you can get your shackle through that.
Another reason you might particularly use this type of padlock is in the steel containers now that you have adopted around. They have these covers that go over the locking solutions and therefore, to be able to get at that pin and put a padlock in, this is something that may suit simply because you'd be able to unlock this like that, now put the key in there like that, open it, drop that down, push that in underneath the shroud that may be over the shackle that has been stapled inside, pop that up there like that, rotate that, and that would then be in within the shroud, and therefore you cannot get at that because you got the steel shroud. This is extensively used for types of containers and that particular type of locking solution. So well worth considering that.
So let's get some measurements on this because obviously that's important. It's quite a petite hole there so it is limited in that respect. So let's get some measurements for your application. I use the vernier gauge so we can be a bit more accurate. So the opening width there as you can see is about 20 mm, so that distance from there to there is about 20 mm. The actual distance then between the case and the bottom of the shackle there is 11.5 mm and the actual shackle itself there in this particular application is 10 mm shackle. The actual size of the body case is 66 mm and the actual width of it is about 25 mm give or take a thou and then the actual height of the actual padlock then is 60 mm also.
Now we can get these in keyed like groups if you need some special applications. It's not a problem at all. And of course we can key extra keys or cut extra keys for you during the order process.
