Hey guys, my name's Darrel. I'm head of the tech
team here at LocksOnline.co.uk and thanks
for tuning in and watching one of our product reviews
videos.
The product that we have here in front of us here today is
the mortice latch that's designed by Codelock as a
replacement latch for their range of combination locks.
You can buy this as a separate entity. You don't need to buy the
combination lock that it goes with. This is just the
replacement one.
To give you some sort of insight into these, on the front
here, if you're not aware, there's this little snib that sits
like that. And the idea is that when the door is closed,
this little snib gets pressed in by the keep. The idea then is that it
deadlocks the latch to stop anybody trying to wafer or
trying to stick a credit card in to slip it and open up the
door.
In the industry, we would call it "slip in mica". It takes
the flat bar spindle, like you would be familiar with if
you're looking for this. There is a range of other
manufacturers like Borg and Asec that use this similar style of tubular
latch. Chances are that this would work with them as
well.
If we get some measurements and you're thinking that your
tubular latch is damaged but your combination lock is
okay but your latch is damaged, then this may be
suitable for your application. So let's get some measurements to find out
exactly what all the sizes are. On the fore end, we've got
a fore end height here as being 57 millimeters. We've got a
fore end width at being 25 millimeters. We've got a
back set, which is from the centre there to the leading edge, that is going
to be 60 millimeters. That's quite important there.
It's from the centre there to faceplate, that's quite
important. This here is a fixing hole so let's get a
measurement on that as well. That's to the centre. I'm getting around about
74 millimeters.
I've got the vernier gauge here, so let's get a tube
measurement as well for you. I'm reading that as being
22 millimeters. The back piece here should be the same;
yeah, it's 22 millimeters. This pieces here, where it goes flat, we'll get
a measurement on that for you. That's 14.53
millimeters.
Now it comes with its keep. This is its keep here,
standard. It also comes with some fixing screws as
well. If I can just open this here. So here's the keep as
standard and of course when that's on the door, in the frame, then that
deadlock latch sits in there like that and locks the
door into place.
Not really much to say about these, to be honest with you,
other than they're quite a universal product and will
fit other manufacturers of combination locks. So if
your latch is broken but your combination lock is working fine, then guys
this is the product that you need to look up getting it
replaced.
I very much hope that this video has allowed you to have a
considered opinion as to whether or not this particular lock is
suitable for your application. But feel free to peruse the
whole website or pop us an email if you're not 100% sure on
something and you need to ask a question. Hey, guys, pop us an email or
give us a call. Appreciate your time and thank you for
coming online and especially for looking at this video.
Take care. Bye bye now.
