Key switches are quite simply switches that are operated by a key. They can perform a variety of functions, often featuring as part of an access control system. Some of the key switches we have in this range are ideal for use in areas where space is at a premium, and others can be partnered with a euro profile cylinder of your choice, meaning that you have the option to operate the switch as part of your keyed alike or master-keyed system should you so wish. They do require connection to a power source in order to function as part of your access control or electric locking system.
Uses for key switches include:
- Operation of roller shutter doors
- Activation/Locking of Automatic Doors
- Override of an access control proximity reader or electric door lock to a different state from standard e.g. prevent access or allow free access
With certain key switches you also have the option of momentary or maintained changes of state e.g. when operating a roller shutter door, it is likely to be a momentary change caused by you inserting and turning the key, holding it in position until the shutter has been opened, and then returning the key to the start position before withdrawing it.
In a maintained change of state, you will insert the key, turn it and then withdraw it from the new position e.g. when setting the Automatic Doors function to 'on' for the day, changing this again in the evening by inserting the key once again and turning it back to the original position.
