Very much a design classic and firm favourite, this Oval Rim Door Knob Set is often seen as a 'go to' for those doors requiring knobs to work with a rim lock or latch. The egg shaped knob sits comfortably in the hand in use, whilst the plain styling makes it great for use in both traditional and more contemporary design schemes. The rose is also plain and has screw holes ready drilled to allow for quick installation on to the face of the door. The reverse knob of the pair doesn't have a rose, enabling it to sit neatly on the surface of the rim lock or latch case.

The knob has a diameter of 55mm at the widest point, and 38mm on the narrow dimension. The rose diameter measures 60mm. This particular style of rim knob is also available in three finishes - polished chrome, satin chrome and polished brass - and comes with all required fixings including threaded spindle and screws to enable straightforward installation on to your door.

Video Transcript
Hi guys, my name is Darrel, and I'm head of the tech team here at LocksOnline.co.uk. Thanks for taking some time to tune in and have a quick look at one of our product review videos.

Today we're talking about a Jedo rim latch. It's a traditional-style rim latch that you'd probably find on your grandmother's back door, sort of a solution art. They still have their place. They're still used today on back door applications or gate doors or shed doors or even inside doors where you want to try and stay traditional and have a big chunky key, and at the same time, you want a bit of privacy in regards to throwing a bolt over to deadlock it.

Now this is the actual traditional rim latch, as you can see here, rim lock. You've got the dead locked version here on the side. There's the bolt there that comes out and of course, this is the latch here as standard. It accepts a rim type of knob-style handle that's also available on our website and of course you've got the keyhole there.

Now this key, this lock is non-handed, that's for your information. Because you've got the round knob drill here at the top and the bottom, it's quite easy for me to turn that over and now I've got the other handy. So if I need to have the other hand, it's straightforward and simple like that.

It comes as standard with a key and of course that key there would hold there like that to stop the door from opening, etc. It comes as standard with two keys. You pop the key in there like that, throw the bolt over and as you can see there, we've now secured the door with a bolt.

But listen guys, I need to stress this. This is more of a cosmetic sort of lock to provide a solution. Don't be treating this as a final exit security solution for your final doors. It really isn't secure enough these days. So by all means, have it, but I'd strongly recommend that you fit a deadlock a little bit further down so when you're leaving the property for a long period of time, or you're going away, down to the shops, etc., use the deadlock a little bit further down.
By all means, use it when you're in the home to give yourself a bit more security, etc. But consider putting additional security a little further down. So it's only a standard traditional lever sort of solution, and it comes etc., with its fixing screws as well.

Now, it's available in a load of different finishes. This is the black finish, you can see there. I think there's grey satin chrome available, there's a polished chrome, and there's even a brass finishing available as well. It can be really in keeping with what you're trying to achieve.

Now what you'll find as well is, what I'm going to do is I'm going to get some measurements for you to give you some sort of idea as to what the overall size of this is. So the overall size there, as you can see, I'm getting 153, 154 millimetres in length. The back set to the actual follower, this is what we call a follower. In other words, this is the hole where the spindle would go through, and I'm getting there at 108 millimetres. And the back set to the keyway there, I'm getting there a 45 millimetres.

So if you're thinking that you might have a door where this type of lock was originally fitted, then you will then be able to turn around and sure those measurements to see whether or not it's the right size for you. The actual height as well of the actual lock there is just over the hundred, it's 102 millimetres high as you can see.

Now you can also see here, I don't know if you can zoom in there, but you'll see a lip there as well. And of course that would either sit on the side of the door or you could just rebate it in slightly to get it to sit nice and smooth.

So there you go, guys. It's available on our website now. It's a traditional style rim sash lock. It's available on our website.
