Looking for a push pad for plastic exit doors? Then this is the solution for you. These EN179 push pads offer a safe crash-to-exit solution for designated outward-opening escape doors.
Finding panic hardware for uPVC doors has been a bit of a dilemma in the past and it has been notoriously difficult to find a solution to allow you to facilitate an emergency escape route through a uPVC (plastic) door, as all the push bars and panic bars available were designed for wooden or metaldoors. However, this needn't be a daunting task any more, thanks to this particular series of push pads made by Exidor right here in the UK.
Because Exidor are a British company, they are familiar with the volume of uPVC doors we now have fitted on commercial properties, and with plenty of research and development, have managed to build a solution that not only fits onto a uPVC door, but also tackled the issue of the hundreds of different uPVC profiles used by different door manufacturers, and have come up with a universal keep solution that they very confidently say will work on any uPVC profile, every time.
This is a huge leap forward for the panic hardware industry, opening up the possibility of an easy solution to push-pads for uPVC doors, allowing you to utilise these push pads with a range of shootbolt or pullman latch solutions on uPVC doors, rather than having to specify an entire new door setup.
Available in an array of different setups, you can choose from two or three point locking solutions, utilising a centre latch, no centre latch, top and bottom shootbolts, and top and bottom pullman latches which can be either horizontally or vertically orientated to suit you.
Not sure which option you want?
Traditionally panic hardware used shoot-bolts into the top and bottom of the doorway, but these days - particularly on uPVC - pullman latches are becoming more prevailant due to their simpler operation and less possibility of issues with unlocking under side-load. This is particularly of interest on uPVC doors as we all know they have a tendancy to flex a lot more than a wooden or metal door ever could. See the table below for a visual interpretation of the different top & bottom locking styles - we recommend you consider the pullman latch solutions rather than the shootbolt options. The shootbolt option does give a more budget solution, but if your budget allows we strongly recommend pullman latches.
Horizontal Pullman Latches Ideal for the vast majority of uPVC doors. Universal keeps allow for fitting on absolutely any uPVC door frame. Ideal for single doors, not for double-doors. | Vertical Pullman Latches
| Traditional Shoot-Bolts
