Hi guys, my name is Darrel. I'm head of the tech team here at LocksOnline.co.uk and today we are looking at some anti-climb paint.
Now, the reason why you would need some anti-climb paint is that if you got areas, say in a commercial environment where kids or people tomfool around or even burglars have the ability to get up over something, to gain access to a particular area or something like that. You may want to be concerned and put something there that may inhibit their ability to get over this. Like a fence or some sort or railings or there is a post that is high by the side of your building that could be skimmed up and you get up to a certain level that will allow you to pop on to a roof. Any vulnerable areas like that around your place, you may want to consider some anti-climb paint.
Now, the idea of this paint is that you'd kind of try and get it so nobody can touch it from about six foot down. You don't want to be able to touch this stuff if you can help it because it leaves a fluorescent dye on your skin, and the idea is that if somebody says 'Well, I wasn't there', then they can use the fluorescent lights and they can scan your hands and you could be covered in it, head to foot in it, without you even knowing about it. So even if you just wash it all off, it's still in your skin for a considerable time after.
So that's one of the benefits as to why you want to use this. So what you need to try and do is keep it up high, keep it out of the way. Now, one of the nice things about this. or one of the good things about this particular type of product is that once somebody starts to climb over it, it gets on all their clothes and all their body, etc., but it actually stays in place. So even the weather and the rain will not wash it away.
There is a word that is used to say what this is and it is called 'thixotropic'. That means it is a semi-solid. So when you actually apply it and you look at it, it's actually quite solid but when you start moving it around, it actually becomes liquid-like. So if the rain is raining down on it or the wind is blowing over it, etc., it stands to stay there for quite some time and you may only have to reapply it every couple of years or so.
So that's the idea of this particular paint. It's available in a black finish and it is also available in a grey finish, and in 2.5 litre cans which is the size of the can that I have here and also in a 5 litre can which is a little bit bigger.
Now, we do recommend that you put signage around. Guys, if you're thinking about using this stuff, you need to let people be aware. You know what the legal state is like these days, they try and claim on everybody. So you need to keep it up, out of the way, and you need to tell people that it's around. Now, they say it is generally pet-friendly or animal-friendly because the main ingredient of this is a petroleum jelly.
So there you go, if you need some and you think that this is the stuff for you, guys you can know you can get it from LocksOnline.
