The BL5051 offers a keypad on both sides rather than just on one side, meaning you must enter a code to enter or exit the property (or room) the code lock is fitted on. This is particularly useful if you want to prevent unauthorised persons from allowing entry to guests or visitors, so in order to open the door from either side, you will need to enter a code.
The device itself is DDA compliant, so if you have a disability-friendly setup, this can be used without compromising your DDA compliance. The handles use a modernised return-to-door style, and offer a soft, rubberised section on the inside of each handle, allowing for easy, well aided grip for those with physical disabilities. What's more, the buttons themselves on the keypad are quite large, with very defined push operation, ensuring ease of use for everyone.
The 5000 Series is graded as medium to heavy duty, with the additional introduction of clutched lever operation on the handles, designed to prevent damage to the lock if an attempt were to be made to force the handle.
Included within the kit is a deadlocking latch which is available in both 60mm and 70mm backsets.
Also present on the whole Borg 5000 series is the extremely useful and highly practical Free Passage Mode. This means that during certain times of the day, should you wish to allow entry without the use of the code, you can. Simply by entering the programmed code and pressing the 'F' button, this will allow free access until the F button is then pressed again to come back out of Free Passage Mode. You may not wish to use this function, but for many it can be very useful when taking deliveries or other similar scenarios where entering the code each time or holding the door open may not be suitable.
Available in Satin Chrome, Polished Chrome, Polished Brass and Stainless Steel finishes, these are all PVD coated to allow for a longer lasting and harder wearing finish, and also allowing them to be used outdoors - although it is certainly recommended these be kept sheltered, and are not designed for exposure to harsh weather conditions or extreme environments.
