Part of the Borg 5000 series, the BL5401 comes with a deadlocking tubular latch, operated by flat-bar lever handles on both the inside and outside. From the outside of course, you would be required to enter the correct combination code before access is granted. From inside, free exit is always possible.
The tubular latch supplied is a stainless steel deadlocking model. This is just like a typical tubular latch, except when the latch sits into its strike plate, a bin embedded into the back of the latch remains compressed against the keep, telling the latch that the door must be closed. In this position, the latch cannot be slipped or pulled back by any other means than the handle, so the code must be entered to allow the door to be opened from outside.
Every combination lock kit in the Borg 5000 series is PVD coated, offering durable protection to the finishes, which are available in Satin Chrome (standard), Polished Chrome, Polished Brass and finally a Stainless Steel finish.
This code lock also comes with a free passage mode. This means you can set the door to free access quickly and easily simply by entering the code followed by the 'F' button. To release the free passage mode and put the lock back into coded-entry as usual, you would simply press the F button again.
It is also worth noting on these locks that Borg have implemented clutch control on the handles, meaning that if the handle is forced, or an incorrect code is entered and the user then pushes hard on the handle expecting it to open, the clutch mechanism will protect the lock against damage under this force.
