In times gone by. In most cases the industry only had the choice of fitting a magnetic door lock if the door that was part of an escape route and was also a primary door where you needed access control.

The concern with fitting a Magnetic Lock was how to achieve the quick and effective way of ensuring that persons could escape through the door in the event of an emergency.

Fitting an Emergency Break Glass in line to the Electric Magnet helps, but better would be to interface the Magnetic Lock to a fire alarm system that would allow the Magnetic Lock to fail when the Fire Alarm is activated. 

Exidor one of the world leaders in Panic Hardware recognise this as a serious issue and have built one of the first Electric Versions of there Touch Bar Range of Panic Hardware.

For customers looking at fittings panic hardware solutions on doors that are on route to a means of escape can now have access control on the door whilst still ensuring safe and efficient means of escape. 

This Electric Panic Door Latch can interface with a whole host of access control solutions, Keypads, Swipe Cards, Prox Cards, Biometric, GSM, Bluetooth, Z-Wave the list is endless.

It is out of character to have 24 volts on an access control solution as most systems are geared around 12 volts. The motor has a lot to do, in driving all these latches back so we suspect the motor needs that extra voltage to provide the power for correct and efficient operation. Also, Fire Detection Systems which are kind of related to Fire Exit doors use 24Volt as standard. 

The Electric Panic Bar come in two sizes to suit doors up to 1200 mm wide, however, smaller versions and larger versions are available to special order. The images show the order references  depending on the width you are looking for. 

We have listed the standard finish which is a silver /grey, however, as you can expect from Exidor there is a whole host of different finishes available to special order. Simply pop a call over or email to get more information. 

Even though, the Electric Panic Bar comes with keeps that would fit a typical means of escape door, outward opening profile door. Other keeps are available for rebated doors and doors where the frame sits flat in line with the door. The images show the options that are available. 

Be mindful, you have to get power to the Electric Panic Bar and we have shown as an option an Armoured Door Loop to do this. Also, we have listed a 24v DC power supply for easy ordering and a handy relay that can be used to interact with any access control system you may have or considering. 

Pullman Latch 

The uniqueness of the pullman latch allows for really smooth operation If you are familiar with traditional panic door hardware with shoot bolts they can be cumbersome and not always work that well after continued use. The Pullman Latch is truly revolutionary that mitigates these old problems with shoot bolts 

Fitting Widths 

To assist in compiling with BS EN 1125: 2008 you need to ensure the touch bar covers at least 60% of the overall width of the door. 

Material 

The Electric Panic latch uses Zinc Die-cast, Steel and Aluminium, there is also an optional Passive and Chromating Protection service which helps protect the steel and Aluminium parts if the Panic Bar is to be used in Harsh Environments.
