These locks have achieved the BS3621 kitemark which in most cases is what insurance companies require you to fit on front and back doors - or any other entry doors to your home. This grading ensures that these locks protect you against attacks to a standard deemed to be highly secure under British Standards. This involves a minimum 20mm bolt-throw, ensuring a good firm locking into the door frame, a hardened steel deadbolt specifically engineered to resist sawing and drilling, defensive anti-drill plates on the lock body to protect against direct mechanism compromise, and protection against lock-picking.
These locks have also reached the standards required for use on fire doors. This includes both 30 minute FD30 fire doors and 60 minute FD60 fire doors.
Available in two standard case sizes of 64mm and 76mm - the metric equivalent to 2.5" and 3" locks - these should cover the majority of retrofit applications, although it's always a good idea to take the time to check your backset measurements and so on to ensure an easy fit!
Supplied with three keys, but we can also cut extra keys should you need them!

Hi guys, my name's Darrel, I'm head of the tech team at Locksonline.co.uk and thanks for tuning in. We're doing some product reviews today, and more importantly, we're doing a product review of the Legge British Standard 5 Lever Dead Lock. Yes, a bit of a mouthful.
Anyway, this is the pretty box that it comes in. Nice and red. It's got Legge sitting on the top. Not really interested in the box, more interested in what's inside it.
So, I've taken out the lock here in front of me. And, let's have a look at it in a bit more detail. It's distinctive in that it's black. It's as black as coal as you can probably see there from the image. If you can zoom in there for us a bit there Lee, you can notice here we've got an anti-drill plate around here guys. And the idea of this anti-drill plate, it's a requisite of the British Standard, the 3621 standard. But it's designed that if you're going to try drilling into this lock, it's going to make it quite hard for you. That's what that is, obviously on both sides as well.
If you zoom in a little bit more, you'll see that there's a little silver collar just inside there. That's a shroud. It's called a 'lever curtain' in the industry. And that's to stop the manipulation of the levers. Makes the job a lot harder. That's again, a requisite of the British standards. If I was to throw the bolt over now, just to give you some sort of idea, the new British Standards, well, 2007 British standards, stipulate that this has got to be at least 20 millimetres. Well, yeah I'm kind of guessing it is, yeah it's more like 22 millimetres.
This particular lock is the brass finish. It's got a faceplate here, I'll show that to you in a minute, but it's also available in a stainless finish. The lock that I have here at this moment in time is the three inch lock. That's the depth of the lock, but it's also available, as well, in a two-and-a-half inch version.
So, let's have a look at what else comes in the box for you. It comes with three keys as standard. That's the three keys there, that's the standard keys. It comes with a nice outside escutcheon there with a weather cover to protect the lock and stop the draughts in the winter. It's got this white covering over it at the moment guys, and that's just a protective cover for the actual lock itself. On the inside then, it's also got, again, it's got a keyhole escutcheon for on the inside, and again it's got a white cover on it protecting the brass from the inside.
The striking box keep is a solid construction, again, full-bodied at the back here, and that's obviously designed, again, a requisite of the British Standards. Similarly, the faceplate here. You know, it's covered in this white finish here, I just pulled up back there, and you can see here the quality of the brass finishing behind that white part there.
So, it comes with this fixings as well, there's a box of fixings there.
Without further ado, let's get some measurements out on this bad boy here. You can then see whether or not it's the sort of lock that's going to fit in your door.
So for starters, I'm going to measure the case depth. The case depth there is 75 millimetres. The backset, which is from the faceplate to where the keyhole is going to be, if you wanted to measure yours, you would be looking at, this one here is, 57 mill, 56 - 57 . . .
