Front Door Dead Locks
Mortice Dead Locks can only be operated with a key. Dead Locks have a single bolt that secures into the door and offers extra strength. There is no latch, therefore handles aren't required to release the door - however a set of fixed handles or bar type pull handles would normally be fitted on doors like this for ease of opening. These are more commonly used on non-passage doors, where unless you're using the door at that given moment, it is desired to be locked fully, never left on a latch.
These are also commonly found on front doors (and back doors) where a rim nightlatch is being used (commonly referred to as a "Yale Lock"), where the nightlatch will often be used predominantly throughout the day while at home, then when wanting to add an additional layer of security to the door either at night or when leaving the property, you may wish to fully deadlock the door with one of these fitted at waist height.
If however, you would instead like to unlock via key, but then have the door kept shut by a latch only opened via handle, you should consider our sashlocks for front doors.
