Hi guys. My name is Darrel and I'm head of the tech team here at LocksOnline. Thanks for taking some time to tune in and have a quick look at one of our product review videos. Now I'm put these short little videos together to be able to give you, our customers, the opportunity to see the products that we have to offer in, hopefully, a little bit more detail or in the flesh, so to speak and help you make a bit better of an informed decision as to whether or not this is the product that you're looking for.

So today I want to show you a Weiser Locking Knob Set that we have on our website. It's part of the Troy range of our products. This is the actual model here. What I've done is I've kind of set it up without it being in the door so it can give you a little bit more of an indication as to what all the parts do and how it all comes together. I'll reverse break it all down because there's a few things you need to be aware of as I am doing that.

Now, Weiser has been making locking knob sets for well back into the '70s, etc., more popular over in the other side of the pond, in America, than what it is in this country. However, they did go through a massive launch of this particular product in the '70s and '80s when there was a lot of imported American products into this country, so it has a staple in respects to that. A lot of master key systems were built on these for hotels back in the day also so there is still quite a vivid range of these particular type of locking knob sets available on the market.

Now, one thing you have to bear in mind is if you thinking of replacing one and you're wanting to fit a new one, then the actual mechanism inside has changed somewhat so you'll need to be fitting it as a complete install. This particular one here, if you're interested in a locking knob set, this is what they call the entrance one, in other words from the inside all you would do to lock the door from the outside is to push that in there like that and turn it like that. That then locks the outside handle, so therefore then nobody's going to be able to get in unless they have the key.

Now, again, this particular setup has changed over the years. This is now a module that can either be keyed-to-like or master-keyed or keyed-to-differ. It comes as standard keyed-to-differ. That would then plug into there to allow you then to be able to change the course and have different keys. So that's the purpose of that particular setup there.

So what would happen is if I wanted to unlock it then, I'd be able to pop that over there like that, and I'd be able to open it from the inside and consequently, then I'd be able to open it from the outside. One of the other distinct advantages with this particular type of setup here, this actual latch is actually deadlocking. So when this is actually in the keep, the idea would be is that that would sit there and push that deadlocking snip back like that. There's a little piece just here that gets pushed in by the actual keep.

The idea of that then, that deadlocks the latch so it can't be retracted, so if anybody is trying to slip this, or get a screwdriver in, or a knife in there to try and slip this, by having that deadlock there then that inhibits that particular operation. So that's the way that that is setup in respects to that.

Now for fixing these together, you can see here you have two screw hole fixings here, but you can quite easily just give this a bit of a twist here and you can actually take this off then. So I'll move that off to one side for this time being because I want to show you a little bit more information about the actual latch itself and I can just pull that off there a little bit.

Now, this particular latch here, the actual mechanism, if you're thinking of replacing this, well this all different. Back in the day, there would have been a square bar going through here. Now they have this carm [SP] assembly and therefore then this has all changed as well. So it's going to be that if you're thinking of replacing, don't think you can utilise this particular setup with the older style. You would need to change this latch as well.

But you can also see we have this little indicator here that allows you to be able to change the backset on this and it can either be set at 60 mil, or it can actually be set then at 70 mil. By me lifting that up there like I'm moving it backwards like that, I've now changed the backset position there and I can move it back in. You can determine as to what size suits your particular application, so that's another key feature of this particular type.

Now, the Troy range is purely a styling range. It has a different type of knob compared to the Beverly range which is more of a tulip sort of design. This is probably more of a round handle knob sort of design compared to the Beverly range. It comes as standard with two keys and of course you got your keep and then you've got you fixing kit as well.

So there you go. This is the brass finish. I believe as well by special order we can also get the satin chrome as well if you need one. But that's the standard entrance knob set designed to be fitted on front doors, etc.

So there you go, guys. If you need a bit more information on this of the products that we have, just pop us over an email, use the live chat that we have, and/or simply pick up the phone and give us a call. Either way, we'd love to hear from you, and more importantly, we'd love to see you as one of our customers. So for me, Darrel, and all of us at the team, thanks for taking some time to tune in and we hope to catch up with you real soon. Take care now. Bye, bye.
