This is a hook-based multipoint lock, offering three hooks in total, the two-hook locking strip and the centre gearbox hookbolt.. As part of their dedication to offering the best quality and security, ERA have successfully achieved Secured By Design accreditation on this multipoint lock!
ERA 2 Large Hook Locking System Composite PVC-U
ERA HOME SECURITY LIMITED
The hookbolts are designed to throw in opposing directions, allowing for a good secure bi-directional grip into the frame, eliminating the potential for any lifting / jemmy attacks on the door, where standard single-directional hooks could potentially be circumvented.
As with the majority of ERA multipoint locks, the faceplate (or strip / rail depending on what different people call it) offers a sliding snib that creates a latch holdback facility, allowing the door to be left in a 'free-swinging' mode, where the latch will not catch into the frame to hold the door closed. And of course that latch is reversible too, allowing for both left and right handed doors.
The gearbox itself also offers split-spindle functionality, allowing for the use of lever & pad handles - but this is not an off-set style twin spindle setup, it is a split-spndle follower, situated at a standard 92mm PZ measurement.
Available on a 16mm rail, with a 35mm backset - and of course those 92mm PZ centres - this has undeniably been made with uPVC doors in mind. This is the most common configuration of sizes seen on uPVC doors and chances are in the majority of circumstances, you would have this configuration already on a uPVC door whether it is old or new.
