Hi, guys. My name is Darrel and I am head of the tech team here at LocksOnline. Thanks for taking some time to tune in and have a quick look at one of our product review videos. Now today I want to talk to you about a range of sash Window Locks that we have and this particular one in particular is the Federal sash window lock. It's designed to sit in between two sashes and the idea is that one sash locks against the other. This style is quite traditional when it comes to British type windows.

So this is Federal's offer and this is the actual product here as you can see. Now the idea is quite simple. You fit this particular piece on the outer sash and you fit this particular piece on the inner sash and when one clamps to the other, it stops the sashes from being able to be lifted up or crushed down, etc. So the idea would be is that if we just take this key out a second, we need to try and emulate the sashes.

I don't know if you can zoom in there, but I will try and hold this the best I can. So as I turn that, let me just try and start it off there. So as I turn that there, that clasp there engages into the keep there and it will pull the two together and strengthen up the lock as we go there. So if I turn them around you can see there now that will then be the two locked together, so they aren't going to move at all.

So as I open it I push that like that. This is the brown version by the way and therefore now, I've now disengaged that away from there and allows then the sashes to lift up and down. So that's the basic principle. I hope I was trying to explain it there on the picture on the top here that would give you some sort of indication.

Now to lock this off, you would basically turn it around in that position there, you put the key in there like that, you rotate the key and take the key out, and now it's actually locked into that position. There is a little pin that sits down in there. I don't know if you can zoom in on that for us, Dave, just to give the customer a little bit of an idea.

Now when it comes to build quality, that's one thing that I will say about Federal, the build quality of this particular product, I mean look at the style of the key. You don't necessarily get that sort of style and quality. I mean this is a properly cut key. So there is a lot of thought and the build quality is precise in this.

We can also get them in keyed alike groups as well, so one key would fit a complete range of locks. Of course, there are different finishes. This is the brown finish that you see here. What I'll doing quickly is I'll get you some measurements that if you think this is ideal for you, I'll give some quick little measurements so you can actually offer them up to your windows to see if they fit.

So this is the piece that will sit on the outer sash. So let's get the thickness of this which is quite important. You're talking there right around about 5, maybe pushing 6 mm thick. The overall length of that, there's a slight bow on either side of 65 mm, and the fixing centres there, if I just get you those there, you're talking there 45 mm fixing centres on this particular piece. The actual height about there, if I just pop that up there, I don't know if you can zoom in there for us, might give you some idea of the height when it's going to come off the top of the window there as you can see it.

The actual main block, this is the part that will now fit on the inner sash. The fixing centres on this one here are 45 mm. The overall length there is, that's just pushing slightly higher there at 67 mm. It's slightly longer than that. And the thickness there of the footprint which is quite important again, that there is 15 mm.

Now if I was to lock this - oops, nevermind. If I was putting that in there like that, the overall size of the footprint there, if I could just that together there, you're talking there somewhere in the region of about 30 mm overall. So that's what you need to ensure that you have there on the top of the inner and the outer sash.

Now it comes as well with it's screw fitting as well and there is a range of screws in here as well that allows you to cut it into plastics, etc., so obviously the manufactures have thought about cutting into metal or similar. So it wouldn't surprise me that this would fit on a metal sliding sash window as well.

So there you go, guys. That's just one of the products that we have on our website. If you need a bit more information on this or any of the products that we have, by all means, pop us over an email, use the live chat that we have, or simply pick up the phone and give us a call. Catch with you real soon. Bye, bye now.
