Hi guys. My name's Darrel and I'm head of the tech
team here at Locksonline and we're doing product reviews
today and more importantly we're doing this particular
product review of the 402 Rim Dead Lock that Yale does.

I've got the case, I've taken it out of the actual case,
but here's the case here. It's the traditional Rim Lock.
Now, guys this is basic security and even Yale has
acknowledged it on the cover here as being so.

The security of this isn't that much, but that doesn't
necessarily mean to say, it's not every day that we
need a lock for security. It could be just to close a door, or
it could be just to put a bolt over to stop some pesky critters from
    gaining access to something.

You don't really need to be high security, but you just
need something there that has a key in which to, you can
hide the key, stop anybody from opening it.

Here's the actual lock itself. It's just a deadlock and
this would sit on the inside of the door and the keys are long
enough to fit through a door should you want to. These
are universally handed so you can fit it on that side of the door if it's
opening that way and you can also fit it on that side of
the door if it's opening that way. That's the handling
on it. It's universal. The bolt projection there, if I
put the key in there and throw it.

It's just a small little bolt. Again, it's only designed
for simple security. That's how it works. Of course,
if it was handed the other way then you can actually
operate it by popping the key upside down.

It comes with a very simple key here and here's the key
here which would then sit on the frame like that. If the
door's sitting on there and the frame is sitting on
there and then the bolt would shoot in between the two.

It comes with some fixings. Here's some screw fixings
that come with it as standard. It comes with two rim keys
    as standard as well.

I'll very quickly get some measurements, just in case you
think well, this is really what I want. I don't need anything
really secure. I just want to keep the door closed in the
garden shed or somewhere like that. Then let's get some quick
measurements so you can run up and check to see whether or not this
lock will actually fit your door.

I get the rule our and we'll fire away with some
measurements. We got the case depth there, from the
front to the back and I'm looking there at being 105
millimeters. I've got a case height there as being, let me have a look,
that's 76 millimeters. One of the important measurements
is the back set and that's from the leading edge here, to
where you're going to have to drill the hole in your door to
where you're gonna put your key. Let me get that measurement for you. I'm
going to be saying that that is going to be 47 millimeters
give or take. I know there's a bit here. I've allowed
    that. It's about 47 millimeters.

The bolt projection, if I put the lock out there. Let's
get a measurement on the bolt itself. The bolt projects
out 14 millimeters. The bolt height there. I can get
the height for you is 30 millimeters and the bolt depth there is 8
    millimeters or, yeah, 8 millimeters.

Again, has its uses. It has its uses. I wouldn't recommend
this on a door that you're looking to want secure. I
certainly wouldn't recommend you putting it on one of
your house doors. It's just not man enough. It's just not beefy enough for
the job, but if you got a little basic security. You just
want to keep something locked up, like a timber log
shed or something like that where there's nothing of
value really inside, then this might be the considered choice for you.

Anyway, appreciate your time. I really appreciate and hope
that this video has given you a bit more information to
see whether or not that this particular lock is a considered
    opinion for your application.

In the meantime, if you need any more help or want a bit
of advice, come and talk to us. More than willing to
have a listen to what you have to say or pop us over an
email. We really, really, really appreciate it.

Hey, take care now and thanks for your time. Bye-bye.
