Hi guys. My name is Darrel and I'm head of the tech team here at LocksOnline.co.uk. Thanks for taking some time to tune in and have a look at one of our product review videos.

The product that we are looking at today is the ERA 805 Press Bolt. It's a very, very universal press bolt and it can be used for multiple applications. Whether or not it's on a window, whether or not you want to lock a door, whether or not you want to lock a cabinet or cupboard, or anything like that, when it comes to just having something quick and simple that you can push the bolt in and it locks, and you need a key in which to unlock it, maybe this is the product that you're looking for.

This is the actual press bolt here. Now, there's nothing really magical about it, it actually just does what it says on the tin. It just works. The way it does work is, if you actually use the key there, and if I was to turn the key, it throws the bolt back like that. That is, basically, how it actually works. When you go to lock it, you just press the bolt up and it automatically locks. That's one of the distinct advantages of this particular type. Of course, then, you need the key in which to undo it there, like what I've just done there now.

Now, it comes with two different types of keeps. You've got this keep here if it was an outward opening door. You could drill yourself a hole up into your frame and the bolt, then, would actually push up into that ferrule there, into the keep. So it would look then for a really nice and petite, finished job. Or alternatively, if the door opens inwards, you may need to want to use this particular type of keep, which could be sitting in underneath the frame, two screws up into the frame like that and the bolt would sit up into there, into the receiver there, like that. No problem at all. So that's what you could use. I mean, again, it's multiple purpose. You can use it for any particular type of application. It all depends on what you want to do with it.

Now, it's also been designed to use with metal windows, as well, or aluminium, like sliding patio door bolts, or anything like that. It can be used for those. ERA have decided to put a set of machine screws, as well, in the case. That allows you to drill a hole and you can actually tack, then, and fit this onto an aluminium-type patio door, an aluminium window, or even an aluminium door in general, that you could use this as well.

If you had a back door, or something similar like that, you may turn around and say to yourself, 'Well, I want to put a bolt at the top, I want to put a bolt at the bottom.' Maybe this is the type of lock that would be suitable for that application.

To get at the fixings, to actually screw it on to the substrate that you plan on doing, when it's in the unlock position there, I don't know if you can zoom in there, but you can see that there's a hole that's made available at the bottom there, all the way through, and there's a hole there made available at the top. That allows you, then, to mark up your holes, and then you will drill or fix them, push your driving screws in there. Of course, when it's in the lock position those holes are now obscured, so you can't actually undo the lock away from the frame, whilst it's in the locked position.

Another advantage, as well, is when you go to fitting it, as you can see there, there's a little dimple, a little nipple, right in the centre there. The idea of that is, if it's outward opening, then when you go to push it up that will then mark the centre of the hole that you want to drill, then, up in to the frame. So it gives you an exact location as to where you need to drill the hole.

There's a packing plate here, as well, that's been made available. If you need to pack it out slightly, you can utilise your packing plate.

What I'll do now, I'll give you some quick little measurements now, to help you make an informed decision. The overall length of that there is 76 mm. The width, as you can see there, is 16 mm and the depth there is 20 mm. The overall depth, the whole lot there, is 34 mm. Okay? That's including the part where you put your key into. The actual projection is 19 mm. That's how far that projects out. What I'll do as well, is I'll just switch on the old vernier there and that bolt there is a good 10.5 mm, so it's about a 10 mil bolt there. The size of the ferrule, the outside ferrule there, that's 13.48 mm. So you're probably looking at wanting to drill a 13 mil hole and that will make it slightly undersized to push that up into the wooden frame, if you need to do so.

Available in white and brown finishes, should you need to do so. There's also a key-operated version, where you can actually have a cut key. That's a little bit more secure than this particular type of key. Of course, you can have them keyed alike in groups, as well. They're also available on our website.

So there you go, guys. It's the Universal press bolt. It's the 805 universal press bolt, now available on our website LocksOnline.co.uk.
