This is a relatively new lock within the industry, but has already taken a good hold due to its low cost and insdustry-standard sizing, making for easy retrofit and replacement of originally fitted locks.
For a low-cost solution to replacing faulty locks, you really can't go wrong with these. The low price lends its self to a more budget orientated solution, but having said that, the operation and build quality is actually rather impressive!
The five levers inside the lock are divided by brass spacers / separators, which are lubricated too, allowing for an incredibly smooth key rotation as the friction between the levers has really been minimised by this clever idea. So despite the standard grade levers, these thin brass spacer plates really do make a difference to the overall performance and feel of the lock.

Hi, guys. My name's Darrel and I'm the head of the tech team here at LocksOnline.co.uk. Thanks for taking some time to tune in and have a look at one of our product review videos.
Today we're talking about deadlocks and more importantly the ASEC five lever mortise dead lock that's available on our site, LocksOnline.co.uk. Let's have a look at it. Here's the actual dead lock itself. As you can see, there are some distinct similarities between the British standard version and this particular version. Now this version isn't British standard. It's a standard five lever but it does sport the 22mm bolt throw that you would expect to see in a British standard lock. It also sports as well, the curtain in there to stop attacking the levers if you need it to for that extra bit of security. It has a couple of the unique features that you would expect if this were a British standard variant.
It comes standard with two keys, as you can see there, and of course it comes in a standard brass or a satin chrome finish. This is the chrome finish and of course there's a protective cover on this. If I was to peel this back just slightly there, you can see that there's the finish there, nice and petite as if it was the day that it was coming out of the factory. Also part of that standard, we'd also expect to see that the keep, which this is, is a full-bodied keep. It's got a keep that's all boxed in at the back. Again, that would be a requisite of British standard. Even though this doesn't carry the British standard Kitemark, there are quite a few requisites that you would expect from that of a British standard lock.
It comes in two different sizes. This is the 2 1/2" and the measurement in regards to the different sizes is the actual case depth. This is 2 1/2" but they do a 3" version as well. Another important measurement that you would expect to see is the backset, and that's from the leading edge right to the centre of where the keyhole goes in. On a standard 2 1/2" you would expect that measurement there to be 44mm and on a 3", 57mm is standard.
What I will do is I will also get you some fore end heights there. The fore end height is 135mm and the fore end width is just a smidgen over 26mm there. That gives you some sort of more measurements in respect to that. The fixing centres as well, just in case you're thinking of retrofitting, the fixing centres there between the centre of that hole and the centre of that hole there is 110mm give or take a millimetre. That's what you're basically look at there, about 110mm.
It also sports two escutcheons and they would be in the finish that you would expect depending whether you got brass or you decided to go for the silver chrome sort of finish. There you go guys. It comes with fixings as well. These are the standard fixings that come with it as standard. If you need a bit more information on this particular lock or any of the other locks, bear in mind as well that we can key these alike and you can have groups of them keyed alike.
If you need a bit more information or a bit more advice, by all means pop online, use the live chat that we have on our website. You can talk to me or any of the guys in the sales or tech team. We're all pretty knowledgeable on these products. Either way, we'd love to hear from you and, more importantly, we'd love to see you as a customer. From me, Darrel, and all of us here at the LocksOnline team, thanks for tuning in and we'll catch up with you real soon. Take care. Bye-bye now.
