This is the latch-only version of the traditional six-inch horizontal lock cases, still manufactured by Imperial Locks right here in the UK. The dimensions of the lock case itself sit at 151mm horizontally (that's roughly 6" in imperial measurements), and 88mm high (a little under 3½" in imperial). This is the most common size for horizontal locks and latches, so we're pleased to still be able to offer them, especially as they're being manufactured in Great Britain!
The latch, which is the only mechanism in this particular model, projects 12mm (roughly ½") from the face of the lock, again very typical of all door latches, and is operated by an 8mm square spindle from a set of handles or door knobs. The follower for this square spindle is situated 127mm from the face of the lock, and offers two-way action, allowing you to utilise door knobs by rotating them clockwise and anticlockwise.
Depending on how your door is hung and which way it opens, you are able to reverse the latch bolt too by simply opening up the lock and removing the latch, turning it over, and replacing it - just take care with the spring tensioner on the latch.
One of the distinct advantages with the LocksOnline Imperial range is the range of diversity we are able to offer - as well as the original Satin Brass and Satin Stainless finishes, we can offer polished stainless, polished brass, satin black and antique bronze - as well as a heavy duty spring upgrade (required for unsprung handles / knobs).
Please be aware that the Imperial Locks
range is manufactured to order for you specially - so please allow
additional time for these to be dispatched!
These locks are fire-tested to BS EN 1634-1:2000
