Designed to operate via a euro profile cylinder, this escape lock features a lever on the underside of the lock designed to unlock the door in the event of an emergency, to be concealed behind a break glass panel so that only in the event of an emergency can the door be used (unless you have a key to the euro cylinder).
If you're already aware of the more typical escape locks which look no different to an ordinary sashlock or deadlock, where the inside handle can unlock the door, then you may be wondering what makes these worthwhile in comparison - and of course there are distinct advantages here.
The first - and possibly most
obvious advantage over the more typical style of escape lock - is that with these locks nobody can simply operate a handle to use the
emergency escape door for convenience, when they should not be doing so. Only keyholders would
be able to unlock the door without breaking the break-glass panel.
The
second advantage - and one that we know is very important in some unique scenarios - is that these escape locks can be
used to allow operation from both sides of the door, by simply cutting out the
area required to operate the lever right the way through the door, and
fitting a break-glass unit on both sides; therefore allowing for
occupants on both sides of the door to be able to break the glass and
operate the lever to get through the door. This can be highly advantageous on partitioning doors which would serve no useful purpose day-to-day, but would allow an alternate route out of the building in the event of an emergency if one means of escape had been compromised.
Sold with a 10 year manufacturers guarantee, these performance-rated locks are designed to last and withstand the test of time - as the Imperial brand itself has done over the years, manufacturing security products in the UK for all these years!
Six finishes are available for these locks - first we have the satin brass and satin stainless steel. These are the basic finishes that are most common for these locks, but we can also get polished brass, polished stainless steel, satin black and antique bronze finishes made for you.
Please note that these do not come with break glass frames, break glass or a mallet - these must be ordered separately from the list under "Don't forget to order".Please be aware that the Imperial Locks range is manufactured to order for you specially - so please allow additional time for these to be dispatched!
These locks are fire-tested to BS EN 1634-1:2000
Important: These items are built-to-order specially for you and are not 'off-the-shelf' items. Therefore please allow a 10-14 day manufacturing period before dispatch. As such, these products they are deemed non-returnable so please double-check your requirements before placing your order.
