Hi, guys. My name's Darrel. I'm head of the tech team at LocksOnline and thanks for taking some time and tuning into one of our videos. Today we have here in front of us is the Cisa 45110 Sliding Door Lock. It's got a 30 millimetre backset and I'll go into that with a little bit more detail in a minute.

So, let's get it out and let's have a look at it and see exactly what it is and how it works. This is the lock here and one of the distinct advantages with this is how shallow this is. This is only 50 millimetres from there to there, which means that your style, if you've got a sliding door and the door style is quite narrow, then you might be able to get away with fitting this particular type of lock in it's place.

The way it works is, it utilises a euro cylinder that sits in here. I have one here spare so I'll sit one in here now and give you an idea of how the lock works. You can imagine that this is what you will see. Let me just get that in there a second. Just line it up. There you go. I won't bother to put the screw in, but there's a fixing screw that comes with it, and that sits in there like that to hold the screw into place. I can get it in there for you. There you go. The idea is, that's what you'd see outside.

Now these type of euro cylinders that you see here. There's loads of different sizes of these type of cylinders that you can buy. So depending on how thick your door is, if you're thinking of fitting one of these, the cylinder isn't supplied. But then you can have a choice of type of security of the cylinder and there's loads of different options, which is another video on its own, again.

But anyway, to cut a long story short. The idea is that if you actually turn the key, you throw this hook out here and you can see it there. The idea is that once you've slid the door closed, you throw the bolt and therefore that little eye sits in there and you've got this little keep that sits in there like that and that then basically holds the door into place. The only way of getting it open then would be to operate this.

Now of course, it doesn't come with the fixings. That's one thing you need to be aware of on this particular type of lock because it can be used for loads of different types of applications. It can be used on steel doors, in which case you would need machine screws. It could be used on wooden doors, in which case you would need wood screws. And it could be used as well on some forms of plastic doors and composite doors, etc. So the manufactures have decided not to supply fixings with this particular type of lock.

But what I can say as a locksmith, you need to make sure that the fixing screws that you decide to fix the keep with need to be as substantial as you can get, because if anybody tries forcing this door open, then it's only those screws there that stop it from being forced open. Don't go being frivolous with screws holding this keep on. Go as much as you can.

Also, what might be well worth knowing is this distance here. I get a steel rule because that's quite important and that little gap there is 6 millimetres. That's quite an important thing if you're thinking of you're not going to use this keep but you're going to put it in an aluminium frame, then you might need to be aware of that.

There's no reason why you can't use this lock on a hinged door if it opens like that. At the end of the day, this is actually hinged as well. It's a bolt throwing out, it comes out. But it can actually be used on a hinged door as well. So that's the actual lock itself.

Let me go through some measurements for you now because if you're thinking of fitting one of these, you may need to be aware of what measurements we have here. The face height, from there to there, that is 159 millimetres from there to there. The face width here is 20 millimetres. The backset, that's from the leading edge to the centre of where the cylinder get put in there, that's 30 millimetres. The case depth, from there to there, as mentioned before, is 50 millimetres. And the case height here is 100 millimetres.

Also for your information, if you want, the fixing centres from there to there is 140 millimetres if you you're replacing it or you think it looks like what you are looking for. Also if you're thinking of replacing, it's obviously got the branding there, "Cisa" at the top of the actual lock as well.

So there you go, guys, this is the 45110 Sliding Door Lock manufactured from Cisa in Italy, available on LocksOnline website. If you think this is the lock for you, we'd love for you to come and buy it off us. We'd really appreciate that. But in the mean time, if I've not mentioned anything there that you think, "Well, I need to know that measurement," or, "I'm not 100% sure," pop us over an e-mail, use our live chat on our website or pick up the phone and have a chat. We're still accepting mail, the old-fashioned form of mail as well. From me, Darrel, and all of us at LocksOnline, many thanks for taking the time and watching this video and come back and visit us real soon. Take care now. Bye-bye.
