Hi guys, my name's Darrel, and I'm head of the tech team at LocksOnline.co.uk. Thanks for taking some time to tune in and have a look at one of our product review videos.
Today we're talking about roller bolt night latches or dead locking roller bolts. That's designed as a rim application. They sit on the door and they look very much like a Yale lock. But their principle of how they work is somewhat slightly different.
So let's get one out. This is Jedo version. This is the actual lock itself. And what's strange about it is if you notice there, it's like a bit of a ball or a semi-ball there. It's an actual roller catch and it's spring loaded as you can see there. And idea of this is that when you fit one of these, this acts as a holder. In other words, it holds the door into place. And if you would press the door enough that would get pushed in and allow the door to open.
So it has the function that the door can be held in place or obviously be pushed open, no problem at all, either way. But then when you want to actually want to have security on it and you want to dead lock it, by turning that like that, you now throw the bolt. And of course now it's secure now by a bolt, Okay?
So it's great for doors where you need a bit of security but at the same time you'll want to keep the door held open, unlocked in other words. And then when you need a bit more security then, throw that over and there's your security, all right?
Now it comes as standard with the 60-mill back set so from the leading edge there to the centre of where you would have your key on the door, would be 60 mills as standard. And of course, as with all Jedo, they come in various different finishes that you can see on our website. This is obviously the polished brass version.
Now it comes as standard with a 5-pin cylinder and obviously its rosette. And it comes out standard then with two sets of keys, all right? So what I want to do is get some quick little measurements for you now. So the overall case height there is 69 millimetres. The case depth is 92 millimetres. The bolt projects out right to the furthest tip of the black there, it's projecting out just short of 20 millimetres there. And its height there is 26 millimetres and its depth there is 14 millimetres.
Now, a top tip for you guys, if you're thinking of fitting one these, it's absolutely imperative for the roller ball version to work, is that you need to achieve what we call in the industry a two-penny gap between the two of them. If it's too far it isn't going to roll or catch, and if it's too close, it's going to jam and not allow it go in. So it's absolutely imperative that you have something like about a two-penny gap, that's what we call at two-penny gap there, the thickness of a two-pence piece in between the actual bolt and, sorry, the actual lock and the keep itself. That's roughly want you should be looking to want to achieve, 1 to 2 millimetres. And this would then work as sweet in that, really.
So there you go guys, roller bolts. And they're available on our website. We've got a few different other manufacturers as well. So, by all means, have a look at the other types of manufacturers that we have. Maybe their finish or their style or their panache may be slightly different to this particular one. But it's the principle, it's the operation.
And if this is what you're looking for, then perhaps then the ideal, pick up this product from us. But if you need a bit more information or you want a bit of advice on this product or any of our products, by all means, pop us over an email, use our Live Chat on our website and you can pick up a phone and give us a call if you like. We'd love to see you as a customer so come on over and have a chat with us.
So from me, Darrel, and all of us here at the LocksOnline team, thanks for taking some time to tune in. And we'll catch up with you real soon. Take care, bye-bye.
