This model is a 5 lever version of multipoint lock gearbox which gives additional protection against attack with its locking mechanism and anti-drill plates. The Era - Vectis 5 lever - Multipoint lock gearbox is available in two backset sizes, 35mm (Standard UPVC) and 45mm (Composite, Timber). It is also available in either a deadbolt or hook bolt model, which both have their advantages.

Era is a UK based manufacturer of security products that are used in countless public buildings both private and public, across Europe.
They also produce and specialize in UPVC products, in particular gearboxes. These tend to fail more often than not before any other component, this is because of the amount of work required to drive the mechanical action repeatedly.

The latch on this model is easily reversible, requiring only a few turns of a couple of screws before turning the latch into the desired location.

If you are unsure as to whether this model is suitable for you, they do provide an indentifying mark on the holdback snib of the strip, on this model it reads Tricep, but also Vectis or Era.

Hi, guys. My name is Darrel and I'm head of the tech team here at LocksOnline.co.uk. Thanks for taking some time to tune in and have a look at one of our product review videos.

The products that we've got here today are the Vectis range. It's the five-lever multipoint locks that are available from Era. Now what's really weird and really strange about this is that you may be using the sort of type of key for a multipoint door. And if you are, and your lock is broken or it's not working as it should, chances are what we have here in front of you is the gear boxes that you need to be looking at changing. So it's using what we would call in the industry as locksmiths is a five-lever version. And the actual gear boxes look like this. This is the actual one that's designed for a composite door. It's a lot deeper than the standard ones that are used for a UBBC door. This is a 45mm backset.

And as you can see here, we've got some anti drill plates on here as well. And it comes in two different particular types of versions. It comes in either chute bolt version like that, or it comes in a hot bolt version, and this is the actual hot bolt version there like that. Okay, so it might be that you might have the hot bolt or you may have the chute bolt. Depends on what type of one you have. Also as well, what's quite an indicator on these particular range of locks, is that the actual latch there, if you can notice, is that it's got two little screw holes in there that allows you to take that off and allows you to change the hand, but that's quite a characteristic of this particular range of locks.

Now to help you make more of an informed decision as to whether this is actually the lock on your door, this is the actual multipoint lock that you would probably find this particular lock on. And what you'll have is these little indicators on here. What they're designed to do is to hold the latch back. That's what they're designed to do. But you will find that probably on this one here, we've got . . . what've we got on there? We've got trisect on there. But you might have on there the name Vectis as well. Vectis is probably one of the most popular versions.

Now on these particular locks as well, for your information in case you don't know or you have that version, is they come as a split spindle, which allows you to have a different form of operation on the outside compared to the inside. So you can treat it from the outside like a latch, like a Yale type latch, and you would use the key then with which to put in, to allow yourself to get in.

If you have a split spindle, I can just put that down a second without it falling over, if you have a split spindle, this is what the actual split spindle will look like inside your door. And the idea is that it operates different function. These particular strings on these are to make sure it sits against the handle correctly. So from the outside, you would have the option to lift the handle up, but it could also be treated as a latch. And from the inside then, you'd have your normal operation. So you may even have a lift-up handle on both sides or a pad handle depending on your application.

So the markers you need to be aware of for you to understand that this is the type of lock that's on your door, is the chances are that little markers that show would have Vectis written on it and of course the identifier is that it's going to have this type of key which is, in our industry, is typical with the five-lever deadlock.

Now you can get these under special order keyed alike if you like as well, so if you have a group of doors around your home and you want to have one key fit them all, hey great. No problem at all. Give us a call and we can sort that out for you as well.

So there you go, guys. This is the range of Vectis Era lock cases. These are the actual gear boxes that sit in the centre. You don't now have to buy the complete gear box. You can, but you can just get the gear box if your lock is starting to break down and wear out. So from me, Darrel, and all of us here at the Locks Online team, I think I've mentioned everything that I need to help you make an informed decision. But if there's something that I haven't mentioned, you want to check up on, pop us over an email, use our live chat. Either way, we'd love to hear from you. More importantly, we'd love to see you as a customer. From me Darrel, and all of us here at the LocksOnline team, take care and catch up with you real soon. Bye-bye now. Bye-bye.
