Padlocks for Toolboxes & Tool Chests
Whether they're the tools of your trade or just your DIY kit, tools are expensive and are a common target for thieves who know they can sell them off quickly and easily without question.
Most toolboxes - whether you've got a full-size tool cabinet with drawers, or just a portable tool chest - will have the ability to be padlocked if they don't have their own integral locking system. But even if they do have a locking system, if it is unreliable or you just want to add another layer of security, then adding a hasp & staple set to your toolbox will allow you to secure it with a padlock. Similarly, if your toolbox / chest doesn't have a locking system, you can quite easily fit a hasp & staple as an easy solution.
The range of padlocks here includes anything from mid-range to high-security. The level of security on each padlock is heavily dependent on the body and shackle size, which will be dictated by the size of the staple you have in which to secure a padlock to. But generally, we would recommend going for the highest security your setup (and budget) will allow for.
For your portable toolboxes - and indeed full size cabinets which tend to be on wheels - you may also wish to consider the use of chains and ground anchors in order to prevent your toolbox being taken off-site.
note, we cannot guarantee the suitability of these padlocks for your
specific application. These padlocks are listed as being a typically
suitable style of padlock only. Measurements and specifications should
be checked thoroughly to ensure suitability for your application.
