The Basta - Swing - NT UPVC Window Lock is available in 20mm backset; 25mm backset versions are now obsolete. This can be measured on your window lock gearbox from the centre of the follower to the edge of the cam shelf. This standard width of the rail in this UPVC window lock gearbox is 13mm

These models can be identified by markings of Basta, Swing or NT. They are UPVC locks that secure the window and provide a moderate to high level of security.

Gearboxes on UPVC multipoint locks are usually the first component to fail; this is due to the amount of work the gearbox has to perform over time operating the locking solution.

This model is available in 4 different overall lengths, 400mm, 600mm, 800mm and 1000mm. If you are unsure as to what size your model is, the Basta - Swing - NT versions are numbered 1, 2, 3 and 4 relating to the previous sizes where 400mm = 1.

Hi guys, my name is Darrel, and I'm head of the tech team here at LocksOnline.co.uk. Thanks for taking some time to tune in and have a look at one of our product review videos.

The product that we have here today is a range of gear boxes and locking solutions for UPVC windows. Now, they have been called different names in the past, so I'm going to explain to you what the differences are. You may find them known as Basta, you may find them known as Swing, or you may find them known as NT.

And if you actually take one of the gear boxes, if I take this one here out. What you'll find is that you have written on there. I'll put this up at the right way. You'll find there is that this has actually Basta written on these, this is the Basta range. But you could have Swing written there, or you could have N.T. written there. Either name, doesn't matter, the locking solution is exactly the same. So that's important to be aware of.

Now they used to have two different variants of these. There used to be a 25 millimetre back set and a 20 millimetre back set, this is 20 millimetre back set. The 25 millimetre back set, guys, is obsolete now. You can't get them anymore.

To measure the back set, you need to measure from the centre rail there through to the face plate. And that'll tell you what measurement of one that you have. Like I said, the 25 millimetre are now obsolete.

One of the other key markers that you need to be aware of, as well, is the width here of the actual plate. It's standard is 13 millimetres groove, okay? So you need to be aware of that as well. The projection of these, as well, you might need to be aware of, they're nine millimetres, okay? They project out nine millimetres.

Now they come in four different sizes as standard. They come in the 400, which is what I have here in front of me, they come in then a 600, they come in a 800, and they also come in a 1000 length in regards to how long they are.

To give you some sort of idea as to which size that you might have, if you actually zoom in. I don't know if you could actually zoom in there for us, Lee. Let me bring that up to a little bit more and put it the right way up. You see there is that just under the name you might have the number one. I don't know if you can actually see that there, okay? One is the smallest. The next size up is 600, has got 2 stamped there, the 800 has got 3, and the one right to the very top, the 1000 has got 4 stamped there.

So, you know, it might be well worth you looking at that and that will tell you which marker that you do have. Now these are no longer really used or fitted on to new windows. But, to be honest to you, there are so many of these still around, and still locking your windows today. It's well worth noting that we can still get hold of these and we're still selling them. We're selling them strong.

There's not really much more that I could actually say about these. The way that they actually work is the whole thing, these actually get screwed in there like that, and the whole actual part moves backwards and forwards, okay? That's the way that they work, and, of course, then they would lock then into the mushroom keeps there as you can see.

Now, the standard centres here are standard in the industry, there 42 millimetres is standard and obviously the size of the spindle there is 7 millimetres. That's also a pretty industry standard as well.

So there you go, guys. So bear in mind those names, Basta, Swing, or NT, whichever one that you may have. These are the actual window locks that are available. The 25-millimetre ones, the back set version is no longer available. The 20-millimetre ones are available, as you could see here, and they're available in 400, they're available in 600, 800, and 1000 mil long.

So if there's any more information that you need, or you need a little bit more advice or anything like that, feel free to pop us over an email or use the live chat on our website, or by all means, pick up the phone. Either way we'd love to hear from you, but obviously and more importantly, we'd love to see you as a customer. Thank you.

So from me, Darrel, and all of us here at the LocksOnline team, thanks for tuning in and we'll catch up with you real soon. Take care now, bye-bye.
