This FIX Asgard upvc multipoint lock gearbox is a replacement gearbox that is a suitable replacement if you match up critical measurements. The Latch on these models is easily reversed, only requiring a simple turn of a screw found on the latch itself. The FIX multipoint replacement gearbox is available in both 35mm (UPVC) and 45mm (Composite, Timber) backsets. This can be measured on yours by checking the distance between the centre of the keyhole to the edge of the faceplate. The snib found on this model can also be held back, allowing temporary free access until moved back into the off position.

FIX produce and manufacture a massive range of security products and locking solutions for UPVC multipoint doors and windows.

Gearboxes are usually the first part of a multipoint lock to fail, this is due to the amount of mechanical stress they are under having to deal with all of the locking, unlocking, opening and closing of the door.
One of the indentifying marks of these gearboxes is the white hold back snib that is located between the latch and the hookbolt, they can also have Fix or Asgard printed on the multipoint strip.

The PZ measurement for the FIX Asgard multipoint lock gear box is 92mm and 70.5mm respectively. These two followers allow either standard functionality or dual, where from the outside you can have different permutations.

Hi guys, my name is Darrel, and I'm the head of tech team here at LocksOnline.co.uk. Thanks for taking some time to tune in and have a look at one of our product review videos.

The product that we have here today is a range of FIX Asgard. There a range of gear boxes that are available for their range of multipoint locks. And here they are in this standard guise.

What I got to my side here is actually a complete multipoint lock because you're not going to know whether or not this is the one for you. And what I'm going to be able to try and do for you is today is to give you some sort of markers on the front of the actual lock to see whether or not this is the one for you. Bear in mind, FIX Asgard is owned by Assa Abloy, and Assa Abloy in the UK owned a load of other manufacturers like Union, Yale, Troy, to name just a few.

So even though you may have a FIX Asgard lock, you might not necessarily see the right markers on the front. Like for example the lock I have to the side of me has Yale written on it because it's owned by Assa Abloy. But it could also have FIX and it could also have Asgard on it. So that doesn't necessarily mean to say that's enough information for you to know whether or not this is the actual gear box.

So let me get this out I give you some other pointers to give you some sort of idea what you need to look at. One of the distinct advantages with the distinct identifiers with FIX Asgard is they've got this little white nodule here as you can see between the hook and the latch. The idea of this little nodule here is it allows you to push the latch in and then you push that up. It won't lock at the moment because it's in the dead lock position to show the up mode. What I mean, it would be able to then hold the latch back.

So that's what it's designed to do. If you got that on your door then the chances are we're now down the right path, we're now looking at a FIX Asgard gear box. Because multipoint lock box are getting quite popular etc., it's getting to a stage that in 90% of the cases what normally happens with a lock is that the gear box that is sent up fails. It doesn't necessarily mean to say that the rest of the mechanism fails. So you can actually get away with just changing the gear box which saves you a lot of money and of course it saves a lot of courier, postage and so forth trying to send it through into the Royal Mail.

So if I can just rest it up there without that falling down. Let's get you some other markers as well on the actual gear box. Say for example now you've managed to get the lock out of the door and you're having a lock. If you notice here, if you zoom in you'll notice that you've got two spindle followers there. I don't know if you can actually get that, it's quite small in there. But you have little markers saying In-Out and also Out Only. The reason for those is that you can have different functionalities from the inside to the outside. You have a latching function. So from the outside you can close the door, but you won't be able to open the door with a handle, you will need to use the key like a typical Yale light latch on a wooden door. It has that functionality.

What also is a bit different and a bit distinctive with these particular ranges and I'm not familiar with that on any other type as well, but the PZ end measurement, that's the centres between the actual follower and the central follower on the key hole. On this one is 92 as standing. But on this one here, wait for it, it's a bit of an odd measurement, it's 70.5 millimetres, from the centre there to the centre of the keyhole. It's very, very distinctive, it's very original, it's very unique. So that's a top tip there for you.

If you want to change the handing on these again it's quite simple, you don't have to do that little Allen bolt in there, it allows you to take the latch out, turn it around and pop it back in. So it may be that it may come with the wrong handing and that's what you may need to do is to turn that around. So some of those key identifiers that you need to be aware of, guys is the little white snip that's on the front and we've got these in and out markers and so forth all in there.

On the face plate you may have FIX, you may have Yale, you may have Asgard, or something similar like that so don't rely on just the name as to whether or not you got the right gear box. They're available in two different sizes. They're available in the back set, that's the measurement from the face plate to the centre there. This one is 35 millimetre and then they do one there for a composite or wooden door which is 45 millimetres.

If there's something that I haven't mentioned that you want to know or you're not 100% sure, pop us over an email, use our live chat on our website and that's free you can talk to me or any of the guys, we're all pretty knowledgeable on this product, or alternatively use up the phone or pop us over an email.

So I can't think of anything else that I need to say other than many thanks for taking the time to have a look at this video. We hope to see you really soon and more importantly, we'd love to see you as a customer.

So from me, Darrel, and all of us here at the team, take care. Thank you, bye-bye.
