Fullex are a well known UPVC manufacturer and for good reason. They produce a wide range of locking solutions for UPVC and composite doors, while still maintaining an affordable price tag.

UPVC gearboxes are a cost effective way of fixing the UPVC door lock, which tends to fail first due to the amount of mechanical stress it is required to work through.

An indentifying mark of this gearbox and its compatibility can be found on the strip itself which should read "Fullex" and/or "SL16".

The PZ measurement for Fullex UPVC products is slightly different, being 68mm. This is the measurement from the centre of the keyhole to the centre of the follower.

Hi, guys. My name is Darrell, and I'm head of the tech team here at LocksOnline.co.uk. Thanks for taking some time to tune in and have a look at one of our product review videos. The product that we have here today is a range of Fullex Gear Boxes. It's the SL16 range of gear boxes that are available now at LocksOnline.co.uk

Now, what makes these markers? If you're thinking that this might be the lock for you, what you need to do is have a look at the leading edge, on the face plate of your multipoint lock, and if it has written on it "Fullex" and it also has the words "SL16" chances are guys this is the actual gear box. That if your gear box is broken, then this is the one that's going to be changed in its place.

Some other markers to be aware of, which is quite distinctive to Fullex is the PZ measurement. That's the distance from the centre, here, to the centre of the actual keyhole. For Fullex locks, that centre's measurement there is 68 millimetres and not the 92 that's pretty standard in the UK these days. So, that's one of the markers that you need to be aware of as well.

The other distinct markers as well, is the type of latch you'll see here. We got a screw that's sitting in the centre. If you undo the screw, that allows you to change the handing orientation of this particular gear box for your particular door. It depends on which way the door opens in or out.

Now, on this operation on this particular lock is quite multifaceted forms of operation. You can use it with a standard spindle, just lift the handle up. That's engages the mechanism, and then when you turn the key in the door, that throws the bolt and locks the mechanism in to place. Also one of the distinct advantages with this particular type of lock as well, is that you have the ability to have the split-spindle operation. Which means you can have different features on the inside, compared to the outside.

And one of the little top tips here for you, I'll just mention it to you. If you do have a split-spindle and you've taken it apart and put it all back together. Okay. If you notice there. I don't know if you can zoom in there, Lee. What you see is that there's a little ring around these. Okay. One of them is slightly longer, and one is slightly shorter. The longer one, here, goes on the inside, and the smaller one here goes on the outside. So that would be the outside, and that would be the inside.

The purpose for that is that inside the actual spindle inside here, it's split to allow different functionalities on the outside compared to the inside. So one of the other advantages of this particular type of lock as well, is you may have a handle here which has a little bit of a turn or a little bit of a snib sitting at the top here. And the idea is that you can operate that, operate that little snib here, and it will hold this latch in to place.

Now, these come standard. This is the 35 millimetre backset. That's the measurement from the leading edge to the centre here is 35. They'll also do a 45 millimetre version, which is this one here. As you can see it's a little bit deeper, and you'll find these more on composite doors or wooden type doors. As opposed to UPVC and of course, they do this hefty one here, which is also 55 millimetres. So, again all the functions on these SL16 Fullex gear boxes are all exactly the same no matter which size it you decide you want to have.

So, some markers for you guys is the PZ is only 68 millimetres and not 92. It also has SL16 written on the actual face of the actual the part in the UPVC door.

So that gives you a little bit more information. I hope there's enough for you to make an informed decision as to whether or not this is the particular range of locks that you're looking for in your multipoint application. But if I haven't mentioned something that you think, "Oh I need to know that" or "what's that particular measurement?" or "what's that particular size of case, etcetera?" You know, by all means, give us a shout and we'll try to help you along. Either email us, or use our live chat. That's totally free. Either way, we'd love to hear from and more importantly, we'd love to see you as a customer. So, from me, Darrell, and all of us here at the LocksOnline team, take care and catch up with you real soon. Bye, bye, now. Bye, bye.
