This model is the Fullex XL Multipoint that is a suitable replacement for older gearboxes with matching critical measurements. This gearbox has a holdback feature which allows the latch to be held back, temporarily allowing free access. The PZ centre measurements on these models can be either 62mm or 92mm, they also have a split spindle function which allows different permutations from the interior and exterior sides of the door. The backset sizes available with the Fullex XL are either 35mm (Usually UPVC) or 45mm (Composite, Timber). This is the measurement from the edge of the faceplate to the centre of the keyhole. This model has a hook bolt style bolt system that provides a high level of security overall.

Fullex produce and manufacture a massive range of UPVC products and locking solutions that are used around the world in both public and private settings.

Gearboxes tend to be one of the first components to fail in a UPVC lock, not really the whole multipoint system. This is because they are required to do the majority of the work when unlocking, locking, opening and closing of the door.

These models have Fullex XL stamped onto the strip of the multipoint lock itself which should give you some indication as to whether you have one of these models.

Hi, guys. My name is Darrel and I'm head of the tech team here at LocksOnline.co.uk. Thanks for taking some time to tune in and have a look at one of our product review videos. The product that we are looking at here today is the new range of Fullex, they're called the XL Gear Boxes. Now, we have got a full multipoint lock here that would fit into a uPVC door here for you to have a look at. The reason why I brought this in is then you can have a look at what marks or what identifiers you may have on your multipoint that would make sure that this is the gear box that you are looking for.

So, if I actually get this particular gear box open now, bear in mind guys, you might see this particular type of up gear and about. You might have a different variation here so don't worry about that. That is not what we are here to talk about here today. We are here to talk about the centre particular part here. This is the actual part here, this is the gear box that operates the rest of the lock.

If I was to put this up here, I don't know if you can zoom in here for us, Lee, and you should be able to see some writing. I've got the light on it there? Can you see that? It's a little bit hard, is it? I turned it around a little bit. No? Okay, listen, what you have got in there is Fullex, F-U-L-L-E-X, and underneath that you have got XL. That is the actual make of this particular type of lock.

What we are going to be concentrating on here today is just to show you some of the features and the facilities that this lock has. It has a holdback facility here by operating this little plastic snip. You can hold back the latch, et cetera. That is one of the distinctive advantages with this particular type of lock.

So let's get the actual gear boxes. I'll just set that back down here for the time being, if she would stay there that is. Here we go. A bit daudry [SP], but there you go. There you go, let's stop there. Right, okay. So this is the actual range. In this particular one you have got two different types of spindle holes here. What that means is on the outside you have got a different permeation to that on the inside. The centres from there to this keyhole and from there to the keyhole is either 62 mm or 92 mm centred. So that is pretty unique with this particular type of range of locks.

You may find that you don't have that, in which case the chances are that this is the gear box that you will have, where you don't have the centre here. So there is the choice there of having just the one and that works like a traditional type of multipoint lock where you lift the handles up and you turn the key.

The reasons for having the distances different on here is that means you can have different functionalities on the outside of the door compared to the inside of the door. So if you wanted to have latch function on your particular door, you would use then this offset handles to allow you to have a latching facility like that of a Yale type lock but on the inside you can still operate it via the handle. So that is the reason why you have these different centres and you will then have a different half spindle that would sit in those.

So that is quite important to be aware of. Of course, it also comes, the standard backsets is the distance from the leading edge to the centre of the keyhole is either 35 mm, that's the half measurement there, or on this particular one here it's just 45 mm. That is the range of this particular type of lock.

So there you go, guys. They have been out on the market for around about three years and we are seeing a couple of gear box changes now. So if you are looking at wanting to just change your gear box, you don't have to change the whole mechanism. You can just change the gear box, all right? This is the range that is available now on LocksOnline.co.uk. Look, if there is any more information you can need, or you still are not 100% sure, feel free to pop us over an email or use the live chat on our website, it is totally free, and you can either talk to me or any of the guys in the team. We are all pretty knowledgeable on this stuff but either way, we would love to see you as a customer. So come and have a chat with us. So from me, Darrel, and all of us here at the LocksOnline team, take care and catch up with you real soon. Bye-bye now.
